He’s high, what do I say?

Parents easily can find themselves at a loss for words when confronted by their child who may be under the influence of a mind-altering chemical.

One of the most useful tools to assist parents in responding in the most beneficial way is a pamphlet called, “What Do I Say?”

This simple and compact pamphlet covers the eight most common conversations a parent might expect to have with a child high on alcohol or other drugs. It is designed as a flip chart and you simply flip to the type of conversation you are having and review the recommended suggestions. Priceless!

Here is an example: When you are speechless due to your child’s actions or situation you flip to, “I Don’t Know What to Say.” Here you will find several recommendations covering what to avoid saying, suggestions on how to stay calm during your conversation and how to prepare yourself for future calls.

It’s simple, easy and best of all it really works!!!!

Go to www.familiesanonymous.org and just below the picture of parents holding hands you will see, “FA Literature,” click there and then click on “Booklets, Books and Pamphlets.” Click on page 2 and scan to the bottom of page and order, “What Do I Say?”

NOTE: If you are having difficulties ordering online, please call Angel with the FA World Service Office at 1-800-736-9805.
