Don’t be overlooked
Have an event coming up that you would like people to know about?
Does someone or some group in your city or neighborhood deserve recognition for something done to help others?
Is there something in the location where you live that needs attention?
Could your community use a reminder about something noteworthy?
These are just some of the possibilities that our online “know it” communities can help you with. All you have to do is take advantage of the offering.
We’ve set up five “communities,” which actually go beyond the cities named: Edmond, Midwest City, Norman, Oklahoma City and Yukon.
For instance, in “know it: Edmond,” you can find information about the cities, towns and communities on the north side of the metro.
The “know it: Midwest City” site includes Del City and locations on the east side.
In “know it: Norman,” you can find things relating to Moore as well.
The “know it: Oklahoma City” site includes Bricktown and other central metro information.
And “know it: Yukon” focuses on the west side of the metro, including Mustang, of course.
But not only are there facts and stories about people, places and things in each of these areas, there are two spots where you can contribute.
In the upper right of each “know it” community is a place where you can send in your news, such as items listed above in this note. Just follow the directions, creating a word or text document, then attaching it to an email and sending it in. Don’t forget to write in the subject line of the email the topic (ex: Book sale set for Midwest City-Del City, or Homecoming events planned at Yukon).
Items submitted to this area also are reviewed by editors of The Oklahoman for possible use in the metro sections of the newspaper.
You also can tweet to these communities in the Twitter area, using the hashtags listed.
So don’t hesitate, don’t pass up the opportunity. You can get the word out on your community by simply contributing.
