AP hoops poll for Feb. 8
Four more weeks of positioning remain before members of the weekly Associated Press poll are seeded in the NCAA tournament bracket.
Since the bracket expanded to 64 teams in 1985, every team ranked in the Top 25 had been selected for the tournament. Although it doesn’t carry the same significance as the coaches and Harris polls carry in the BCS standings, the weekly AP basketball poll is a valuable tool used in the tournament selection process.
Here is how I voted in this week’s poll as Michigan State and Texas start to tumble.
1. Kansas; 2. Syracuse; 3. Kentucky; 4. Purdue; 5. West Virginia; 6. Villanova; 7. Georgetown; 8. Duke; 9. Kansas State; 10. Texas; 11. Gonzaga; 12. Tennessee; 13. Wisconsin; 14. Michigan State; 15. Ohio State; 16. New Mexico; 17. Butler; 18. Cornell; 19. BYU; 20. Temple; 21. Texas A&M; 22. Baylor; 23. Pittsburgh; 24. Georgia Tech; 25. UNLV.
