Yep...game by game Jenni...we will know more Saturday night. Elite is relative to the times....still don't think I have ever seen a better defense than the one the Sooners had 1972... Gave up 5 points a game...pretty elite... Of course OU ran the bone, so the other teams didn't get too many plays, either...all relative to the to the times... Who knows what happens to LSU, Alabama, Oregon.....who saw OU wiining the NC in 2000? I don't think we made any elite list that year until December...had to knock out KSU.

If OU can beat these earlier teams then I believe they have a chance at winning it all! Just as Coach Stoops says, we are a work in progress. We have the players to win big, but they must be polished significantly. This has been the case before and that's why Coach said it. LSU looks beatable to me. Now Bama will be a different story if a similar team doesn't play their A game against them. Why we are not more polished? Suspensions, injuries, ect., ect., ect.

I'm traveling to the West Virginia game and just hoping not to get humiliated. At least the Steelers/Ravens game the next day in Pittsburgh should be interesting in case of an OU national TV night game meltdown.

Before the season began I felt that OU had too many issues with practically every unit on the team to even think about a NC this year. Nothing I've seen so far har changed that opinion. I believe we will be very fortunate to even win a conference title. I would agree that with the idea that few teams are great out of the box, but Bama and others don't seem to be plagued by the weak starts that OU seems to often have. I looked for this season to be much like last year. I would say we'll likely lose to at least two teams that we're not expected to lose to.

Keeping in the 1st.string through the 3rd. and even having some in the 4th quarter does not impress when playing a "creampuff" team. Like when OSU played Savannah it is hard to take much from the game. Nice to see that the running game went well but is it really fixed? The many sacks of Landry...a big red flag. I do not with others see this as a NC team this year. Next year?? Sooners will have a new QB...to learn the system. Bell may or not be that QB..just because he plays Belldozer does not mean much and Stoops hardly plays him in the game to gain much experience. How this team performs this year is yet to be determined and waits to be tested in coming games.

Don't know what game you watched, but I saw improvement. The slow start put a bad taste in everyones mouth but we saw what happened when everything starts clicking. Gotta keep in mind that there is a lot of youth on the field and by youth I mean players that are new as well as players who are finally seeing actual playing time. I tell you, I'm an ardent OU fan, but I've seen some smug comments from OU fans this season. I think we are too dang spoiled. 63-13 ain't good enough for ya? Then stop watching football cause we ain't gonna hang half a hundred every time. Carlson, you sound like you watched the game on ESPN Gamecast. Your football analyst skills need a tune up. No, this isn't an elite team yet. But it can get there. Boomer

Just like Coach Stoops said, they all need polishing. In past years when he said that about OU they did develope into an elite team during the season. I believe him when he said it again about a couple of weeks ago. We are developing into an elite team. I think OU can go all the way!
