Three days after the Huskers’ loss to A & M, Bo Pelini characterized his sideline encounter with Taylor Martinez as an “exchange”. However, what TV caught during the game was not an “exchange” but rather a one-sided tirade by Bo…his invading Martinez’ personal space, poking his finger in the QB’s chest and the latest of Bo’s blood-in-the-eyes, crazed rants. Plus, his behavior triggered a 15-yard penalty. And, get this, in his presser, Bo says that everyone knows, including when the Huskers hired him, that he is a passionate guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. What about personal accountability? His act will wear thin pretty fast…maybe not in Husker Nation, but, certainly elsewhere. And his brother, Carl, is no alter boy either. I’d love to see their childish conduct cost the Huskers a game, maybe a championship of some sort, then see the reaction of the University and the Husker Nation. The additional wrinkle here is that his and Carl’s conduct is inconsistent with the “advertised” mission of collegiate athletics and coaches…to grow young men and women, prepare them to successfully meet challenges and shepherd their development as productive members of society. And these loose cannons fit that job description!?! Are you kidding me!?!

jenni dont let these yahoo’s get you down. while i like pelini’s fire, its easy for a fire to get out of control! i have no problem with the flogging of the refs in the tex a&m game from some of the replays i seen it appears nebraska got hosed. i have no problem with him getting after the players but that needs to be off camera dont do it on tv! at least not the way pelini did. so you keep on writing and telling it like it is jenni!

Nice reply Jenni. How can you argue with that, Dan?

If true, Coach Pelini should have been absolutely clear with the Officer. It was obviously a big deal to him…and he obviously put some time into his ooportunity.

If false, shame on those who would falsely throw mud on others just for a story.

Hey Dan, he was not a Navy Officer he was a Petty Officer which is an enlisted rank in the Navy.

I read the link posted by John, the ‘kid’ is a navy officer, so even if he was disappointed he’ll get over it.

All I see is Jenni Carlson trying to make something out of nothing once again. I don’t how her rewriting a bad story off Foxsports.com is news. When is she finally going back to Kansas??

John, when you say the “story was set straight”, I assume that you mean a Nebraska paper, and that they put a more “pro-Pelini” spin on the story. I think it’s far more likely that the original story was on-the-money. You don’t have to know much about Pelini to know the story is probably accurate as first reported. Maybe it happened last year and the person understood it was a “joke”, but obviously this kid did NOT. Pelini should be ashamed, but I doubt he has the character to feel shame.

Lisa Horne was just trying to create a story. The kid was interviewed by an actual newspaper and the story was set straight. NU did the same thing last year and nobody got bent out of shape about it.

Forsome time, I’ve had the feeling that Pelini is really a jerk trying pass as just an over competitive guy that sometimes crosses the line.Thisincident reinforces that feeling.

After watching the egg that Nebraska laid in the Holiday Bowl, Pelini shold have let Ryan call the entire game – it couldn’t have been worse.

With Nebraska’s and Pelini’s carping about officiating in the Big 12, how do you think the new kid will be treated by the Big 10 officials and their inconsistency interpreting the “excessive” celebration / taunting type penalties?

Maybe he should consult the old man at K-State.
