This paper is a joke, and everyone knows it. LOL @ this:

The difference of course is that Gundy has all the relavant info that we dont,including Jenni. He made a decision after collecting the facts. Jenni made hers on incomplete info. This is a fact, Madu was arrested for DWI- changing lanes etc almost twice the legal limit. Little was said by Jenni or Trammel on Madu(Jenni couldnt remember whether Madu was even suspended until she checked). Madu was given a free pass from the DOK. Owning the paper and a college team has its advantages. Bottom line- where a player goes to school determines how the paper judges it.Remember Jenni’s and Tramel’s pay depends on it. Those are the facts.

Hi Jenni,

I do agree with you on the suspension and on the stupidity in regards to the players actions.

You have taken a lot of heat from some of the comments on here (as well as in the past). You are only hurting yourself in my opinion by trying to reason with someone that has an agenda, much like the Oklahoman has in regards to one of the major college schools in this state(as in my opinion, as a reader (NOT a fan of either OU or (OSU)).

Apparently Blackmon admitted he had consumed something alcoholic and Gundy has taken what he believes is the approriate action. If the BAC had been 0 and Blackmon denied drinking, I don’t believe there would have been a suspension.
But this has not been about his drinking or not. This was the result of Carlson saying he should be suspended for speeding and being out late and far from home. I still say a suspension would have been an overraction to just those things, but is in line with him drinking. I know the OSU Team and school rules are very strict and clear about underage drinking.

In addition to suffering the legal penalties the State of Texas will hand down, his crimes were so egregious in nature that he should also be suspended for 1/12th of the games that he would have played in????

Lose an additional 1/12th of the only annual reward he receives for being a scholarship football player????

So upon your next speeding ticket or Texas Type C Misdemeanor equivalent infraction, in addition to the penalties the Law hands down, the Daily Oklahoman (the entity you represent) should lay you off for 1/12th of your annual activities without compensation, Jenni????

In addition to the fines and penalties the State hands down, you should be laid off for a full month without pay????

The same for all of those who agree with Jenni about this suspension????

Goodness knows you wouldn’t want to be rendered a hypocrite.

I grew up cheering for the Sooners, graduated from OSU, am a faithful Cowboy fan, but must admit, “This whole blog makes me embarassed to be an Oklahoman! As I read this entire blog, the only words that came to me were “Word Vomit”! All biased or nonbiased opinions aside, what good is any of this doing? Come on Cowboy and Sooner fans, unite together for Oklahoma! Stand up and be strong! Let’s help these kids as they struggle to understand the negative temptations put in front of them! As a parent myself with young kids still at home, I can only hope that if this were my child that made these mistakes, he would have a strong group of Oklahoma citizens who were willing to put their pride aside and stand up to help! The last thought I leave is this: “If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it”!!!!!

My hat is off to you. If only for having to read all of the petty, self obsessed, suffering from some self-imagined group persecution complex, low life cretons who have posted here. This blog seems to be a magnet for them. What’s really funny, is that many of them cannot organize their thoughts, with enough control of their own emotions, that they have to post multiple times. If not for OU, these Neanderthals would have nothing to compare themselves too.

Attention: MESA members posting here, this subject is about the best player on YOUR TEAM that was arrested one day ago. It is not about a third team OU player, who was arrested several months ago (whom several of you genius types were not even aware was suspended for a game). Where were you when that went down? This is not about him (Madu), it is about YOUR GUY, and it is current. Stay on topic. Do not commit the fallacy of “Arguing Beside The Point” (as if you would know what that even means). Now, back to your own stupidity, which is already in progress.

Wow..reading through these comments by some of you O State fans is in a word..a trip. Most of you completely miss the point. Jenni was right from the get go and so is Mike Gundy. The young man needs to sit a game… and will. Even if he wasn’t stopped by the Carrolton police—he violated team rules and was 32 MPH over the speed limit. Let’s assume he was the designated driver and was alcohol free…then WTF is the only sober person in the car doing going 32 MPH over the speed limit at 3:45am on a game week during a pivotal stretch in the season?

Criminal–no? Completely selfish–yes.

Seriously, WTF is what I would say to all of you O State fans on here with a Jenni Carlson agenda instead of stepping up to the plate and explaining in an adult-like manner…why the team’s best player without permission from his coach was driving at 92 MPH at 3:45am during a game week?

Put your angst aside just a little for the Bobby Reid story and try to view this like adults. Good grief.

First time poster, first time reader.
A Cowboys forum mentioned this blog so I thought I would come read a few posts. The forum mentioned your blind hatred for OSU and that you saw the world in crimson colored glasses. Honestly I dont wait don’t care if you do or do not like OSU. Now on to the journalist part, in particular the attack on Hank/Arron way up there no wait their, no wait…yeah they’re sorry there. The difference between Hanks/Arrons misspelling or use of the wrong word and your journalism…..

Lets say Hank/Arron is an electrician and Hank/Arron come over to your house to fix your OU ceiling fan and in the process catch your OU bedsheets on fire which spreads to your photoshopped poster of you in your wedding dress with your groom Sam Bradford standing lovingly next to you. Anyhow the end result is you standing outside by your OU painted curb watching your house burn down. Angrily you tell Hank/Arron “you call yourself an electrician you burned down my house” and smugly Hank/Arron replies ” It’s not that hard to your fix a ceiling fan next time do it yourself. I do not think that is too much to ask.” If my point is unclear, which it often is, I will clarify. You got your job wrong, not them. Oh and as for my original reason for coming here? The forums were right you do suck as a journalist.
