I listened to the OU-OSU on the net while watching the game Saturday night. I will have to admit Bob has lost a step or two over the years (haven’t we all???) but it brought back memories of listening to an OU game with my Dad in 1961 around an old radio. At the same time, here I was, listening to him on a computer, 1800 miles away in 2010. Bob Barry has spanned countless coaches (OU and OSU combined), over 500 games, two centuries, and technologies from a tube radio to a PC. I live in California now but Bob Barry will always be a link to my Oklahoma roots and some very happy memories. Thanks, Bob, and best of luck in the future.

I have enjoyed listening to O.U. football through all the years of Mr.Barry’s broadcast. What a fine genleman he truly is. Have sat with hime several times at Queen Ann’s in the past. I am sure that Bob Jr. loves his dad with high respect and honor.

I’ve always listened to Bob on the radio for I don’t know how many years. It’s just going to be the same without Bob ! I’ve been an OU fan for 44 yrs and listening to Bob and Merv has been part of the gameday experience that I’ll really miss. Have a great life Bob Thanks

he’s at the 40 the 35 the 30 the 25 the 20 the 15 the 10 the 5, TOUCHDOWN OKLAHOMA!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, let’s see, he may of stepped out of bounds at the 25. Other than that, he seems to be a great guy.

I would like to pass on a congratulations for his longevity of doing the job he loves. It is good that he was able to determine the time for him to retire. I compare it to Keith Jackson with ABC. He is very likeable and actually I really enjoyed his time calling games. I will always remember, “how bout them apples!”

Also, I think it is great that the University is going to let him contribute and be involved. When a person invests as much time as Bob, they should be able stay involved at some level. I believe he has earned it. I just want him to know that the fans appreciate his contribution. I know he is aware of his critics, but he should know that even his critics loved him at some point. He has been great! He will be remembered and will be missed. Congratulations Bob, you deserve it!

YES!!!! Bring back John Brooks. Bring on someone who has a clue what just happened on the field. I watched a game at the stadium one time about 4 years ago and tried to listen to Bob on the radio. I laughed out loud. He wasn’t even CLOSE on the majority of the plays. I sure knew where all the kids were from and how much time was left in the quarter. Bye Bob. You should have left a long time ago, and it’s an embarassment to the University that they held on to you for this long.

What a nice man. What a horrible announcer. I can’t wait until 2011 when I can actually listen to a game again. It’s like he isn’t watching the same game. Even more maddening is hearing his spotter screaming in his ear “that was Joe Blow with the tackle” followed by Bob saying “that was Joe Blow with the tackle”. If I heard one more time how tall and heavy a kid was, what year, and what high school he went to, I would have driven my car into a bridge abutment. Sorry, Bob, but you passed your prime decades ago.

I agree that he is a great Man that has been loyal to OU. But honestly I can hardly stand to listen the last few years. His not knowing if the pass was complete or intercepted is just a little much, not knowing what down or where the ball is on the field upsets me. He should have known when to retire.

Its about DANG time. He was going to retire before the 2000 season but came back because they had such a great year. He is such a fair weather fan. I am a sooner fan but he shows what kind of fair weather fans OU has..
