Jenni, thanks for bringing this up…B. Smith quit complaining you probably aren’t even a hockey fan. The new team has blown the chance by not getting the name out. I am a big hockey fan and I am upset on the way that FUNK has messed this one up also…Almost makes me not want to go to the games now…

Yes, we are all waiting but we are also still waiting for the Oklahoman to help build community momentum by plaacing a tab for the NHL on the sports web page (like NBA, NFL and MLB and go ahead and put one there for “OKC AHL Team” and replace with the name once it is announced. And oh while at it….Update the “header” Back from Nov – Feb it said “OKC is in the market for a new minor league hockey franchise”….well, OKC found one in Feb…so Oklahoman should update that to something more correct.
“OKC has found a new parent club the Edmonton Oilers to affliate an OKC hockey team in the American Hockey League”
Get Ready OKC, here is your AHL hockey central.

Plenty of people out there who can help create momentum — we hope the Oklahoman can embrace.

In an ironic twist, they could name the team the “Big Friendly” (supposedly an idea that is catching on)

Wouldn’t be overly concerned about a deadline coming and going. There was also a deadline that said the City would only pay for the $4 million (mol) in improvements to the Cox if a lease was signed bu the end of last year. That didn’t happen but the City is still paying for it (out of the MAPS 4 Kids Use Tax that had already been earmarked for Public Safety).

How about the “Roughnecks?” It makes sense since it’s the Edmonton Oilers farm team and they’re in Oklahoma that they would have a name that’s oil related. Not to mention that Hockey is a rough sport. These guys know how to take a hit.
