Wanna watch golf at your desk?

The boss doesn’t need to know about this, but this week at the PGA Championship, the PGA and TNT are offering live streaming video of the action online.

The Pipeline, as it’s dubbed, gives you a chance to watch what’s happening on the course. Go to the tournament’s official site, then click onto the “Live Now” icon or the “Player Cam” area. Right now, they’re following Phil Mickelson, Jeff Sluman and David Toms. They’re also checking in with others on the course.

I’m usually not much for product plugs, but this is one cool feature that allows you to keep up with the action even when you’re at your desk today.

Tiger, T-Town and back sweat

It’s official: the PGA Championship is here.

The first round isn’t until Thursday, but Southern Hills in Tulsa is buzzing already.

* Folks had to rise and shine early if they wanted to catch Tiger. The talented Mr. Woods teed off before 7 a.m. and finished his practice round around 10:30.  Despite the early start, several thousand fans lined the fairway and ringed the green as Tiger finished on the 18th. He signed several autographs but did not talk to media.

He is scheduled to do a formal interview tomorrow.

* Tulsa looks like a championship city this week. All systems are running smoothly around Southern Hills. Several streets around the course are blocked off and restricted only to tournament vehicles. A strong police presence — two officers on horseback were spotted stationed at a 7-11 —  and a city that has hosted several major golf championships before gives you the feeling T-Town knows what it’s doing.

* If you’re coming out to Southern Hills this week, be prepared to sweat. A lot. Heat indexes are expected to climb into the 110-degree range throughout the week. You can be sitting perfectly still, and still, it won’t take long before that annoying bead of back sweat starts making its way southward.

Two words: water and sunscreen.

Live ‘em. Love ‘em. Use ‘em.
