I WANNA ROCKlahoma

I walked into The Oklahoman’s north branch for my second day of work wearing grey cords, a T-shirt baring the state flag and a pair of sandals, proper outdoor festival-coverage attire but far short of typical office casual.  Editor Ed Kelly -always of immaculate dress- strode past my new desk and I swung my chair around in such a manner to prevent him from having to see an intern’s toes.
About three hours later, toting enough camera equipment to film Avatar, I arrived (in the lime green, Wimgo-wrapped PT Cruiser company car, no less) with fellow interns Nathan Poppe and Miranda Grubbs at an enormous field some 151 miles from our office to spend the day covering the Rocklahoma, Pryor, OK’s most newsworthy annual event and perhaps one of the greatest opportunities for people-watching I’ve ever experienced.
