Stephen thought about this long before Coach Long decided to leave as the Great Child he is, he was thinking of his family and how we would feel but Terry’s decision was confirmation to him that this was the Best choice for him. As a mother it’s only natural to feel upset but I’ve prayed on it and whatever GOD’S WILL is I will support it 100%. So let it be done!!!

For the OCA team, they only release the players who made their teams. Our (The Oklahoman’s) All-State and All-City teams will be announced in early June and for that, we have a first team, reserves and honorable mentions for All-State, Big All-City and Little All-City.

I have not followed High School Basketball much until this last year watching the Haworth Lions fight their way to the Championship Game. However, When I saw Douglas play at the Big House on Saturday,I texted to all my friends that Clark was the best High school basketball player I had ever seen. He was amazing. 35 foot jumpers, Defense, speed, passing, and very smart on the court. If anyone is ready to play early in college it is Stephen Clark!

Lisa,
We usually don’t do much more than a note and roster when the OCA team is announced. Most of our coverage comes during the OCA All-State Games where we’ll do a feature and game coverage off the games.

We will release our All-City and All-State teams in early June and we’ll have pictures/capsules on everyone on the All-City teams and capsules of all of our first-team All-Staters.

I don’t know much about this young man off the court. The transition from junior year in high school to a major university can be quite challenging. He may very well be up to it but a big decision for sure!

@Kyle You think it’s stupid? Why… because a kid who’s nearly a 4.0 student and has enough credits to graduate early is considering making a good decision. Is it because he has nothing else to prove, doesn’t care to continue to be at a school that’s more like a prison, and really could care less about a prom that makes this stupid? The coaching change is what “mom” is using to justify the decision with her peers but the kid himself is confident enough in who he is to do whatever he wants and not care about perception… If he cared about “playing for a different coach”, he wouldn’t be rushing off to college (to play for “a different coach”)! Smart move to leave, redshirt, get bigger & stronger and get ahead!

Kids do it in football all the time and nobody says a word..

@Jimbo – I agree that Manning is a legend, but its gonna be hard to talk a kid, who has only lost 4 or 5 games in his HS Career, into going to TU.

I remember that Reggie smith led team, I think jenks lucked out that game. Then again, I just don’t like jenks. . I think SF will kick some major butt this year, but yea, it remains to be seen.

Mwc/ SF and jenks/union in week one? Not sure if it gets any more exciting. About our district… NN will be strong, even though the score last year was misleading. NN scored I believe 28 or 35 against our D in the final quarter, most late in the 4th against reserves, including the final play of the game which included a TD. It was definitely a wtf moment.

Ike and Edmond north will be tough as usual, Yukon is at home, and Moore remains to be seen. Why US grant is still in 6A is beyond me, but outside of that, I think we have a tough season ahead of us. We’re at Stillwater in week 2, (i cant wait to check out their stadium!) and I think they’ll be salty as well. Del city will be after us in week 3, but that’s our home opener.

I’m looking forward to this year. My last year in Oklahoma too…

Well it remains to be seen. But don’t underestimate the past success of Santa Fe either. That have been to the state championship game more recently than your Bombers. Yes they were down for a couple of years but…..coaching can make a difference. Coach Hall has had past success and MWC will not be dropping off that much I understand. Just saying don’t be shocked if they lose in Game 1.

Your thoughts about MWC’s district can anyone compete with MWC?? Norman North (19 returning starters)?? Edmond North??

No offense taken, but I think you’re underestimating Bomber football in general. Not to mention the underclassmen who will be fun to watch for the next few years. The things I hear and see in coach Hall are great, and this will be a challenge, without a doubt.

Last year, Santa fe went from a 1-9 punching bag to a district title winner who lost to Mwc and jenks, and ran circles around jenks, and I’m surprised that they lost that game. But after ONE good season, I’m not ready to jump on the Santa fe bandwagon yet. Manning turned Norman north into a contender, but after the bulk of his talent graduated.. Well, we saw what happened. And Jim Traber found something else to ramble on about. Lol.

Huff did a great job, but I think Hall is going to take the Bombers to unheard of heights.

Season opener is too far away.

It will not be the same and a transition no matter how good the coach can be difficult. As I have said before, I don’t see a drop off in either team, and people said the same thing last year, and we dropped them early on. But, in their defense, Santa fe seems to expect to win now, as opposed to last year, where they came out of the wood works, and only got better. I am glad to see a west side team other than us being a threat to the 6A throne.

Top qb in the state? He was good, but I don’t think he is the top. Mwc has a solid qb coming back this year as well, who seemed to just get better. If jenks/union isn’t the top game in week 1, then Mwc/Santa fe will be.

But yes, the bombers have a tendency to be up for these types of games. They may be youthful, but that doesnt seem to change much. Coach hall will get em going…

Can’t wait!

I had to go to Oklahoam coaches aide to get the scores. This is my impression of the Daily Oklahoman Sports. Professional and college is organized and easy to find. High School coverage is spotty. Mainly its difficult to find scores. If they are there you have to dig and find and never that intitiutive. Another place I go is the Tulsa World. It is organized well and you can get to scores with in two clicks.

It is a difficult situation at PC West. Wish they would have kept Jensen around a while longer. He was a very good man for the almost-impossible job there. Define winning to me. Is it what the scoreboard says or the quality of individuals who help to mentor? I think building better members of society is better than building statistics. Maybe you can do both, but if I had to choose druthers, I’d take the former before the latter.

Just a spectator,
I was at Class A and B state all weekend and we covered every other state tournament event last week and ran the regional scores that were called in.

Planning on getting a mention of District 6A-1′s accomplishment soon. Edmond Santa Fe, Yukon, Edmond North and Moore all making the tournament is definitely impressive.

Good luck Rocky, maybe yours is the greatest challenge in OK. Coach Jensen set a good foundation for you, and will be a superb individual to have for a boss with all you are expected to accomplish.
Now here’s a good and proper follow-up: fire Meeks, and now. “Buster” (really??) is a poor excuse, perhaps the poorest, of a leader of a school that needs people like Jensen at the helm. Although it ‘Buster” never intended it this way, perhaps COACH Jensen can survive the backstab wounds and be the backing Coach Martin needs for West to have more success on the scoreboard, which will be more the probability once the door hits “Buster’s” backside.

It’s a shame when kids don’t qualify academically initially. Someone should have been in this kid’s ear long before now getting him where he needs to be schoolwise. I guarantee everyone’s been telling him for numerous years how great of a ballplayer he is.

Guru53: Thanks for the heads up. I got it corrected. Apologies for the mistake.

At this point, I have to believe Santa Fe is the best, followed by North and then Memorial. Santa Fe lost some talent but still brings a lot back. North lost a very, very good senior class that will be tough to replace, although I hear the guys coming up could surprise some people. I think Memorial still has some rebuilding to do but could show improvement this fall.

I completely agree with Moser and James. I was a 2011 graduate from PCW so I got to see all the crap that the Jensens pulled and if only half of you actually truly saw how the Jensens really were. They only act like wonderful caring people when theres publicity involved. Coach Jensen always let his certain favorite football players get away with whatever they damn well pleased and Mrs Jensen was one of those power hungry nazis that if you even dared to cross just once she would make sure the rest of your time at that school was a terrible one. I remember because Malcom had close ties with the Jensens when he failed his English final he still got chosen as Mr Patriot Senior year when there was plenty of other students who actually qualified for the position. I know for a fact that Im not the only student who truly hated the Jensens and Im not one to throw the word hate around like its absolutely nothing. I will agree that Coach Jensen can be a great person at times but they are far and few between moments. But before all you people start sticking up for this guy please actually consider hearing the students who went to school with these people dailys opinions. Putnam City West is NOT a bunch of starving little hoodlums which is exactly what they tried to portray most of us as. Just like James had said every school has those few kids that clearly cant afford to feed themselves and thats fine but that doesnt mean PCW is just a school full of poor people. I just hope to see that they actually get a good coach who will know what hes doing.

This really doesn’t surprise me. Small town kid goes far away to test the waters,finds that he’d rather be closer to home, sets the wheels in motion. It happens more than it’s actually reported. Young Mr. Spangler will definitely be a good pick up wherever he lands. Best of luck to him.

James your right, if these people met with the majority of these kids they would see what you are saying. I know a few kids that were reprimanded for hitting to hard in practice. tHERE DOES NEED TO BE CHANGES MADE AT THE TOP OF ADMINISTRATION TOO.

To tell you the truth the numbers were down and there was alot of favoritism on the team on kids that John thought he should be close to. Some of these kids ended up being in troublw iwth the police. This is best for the program and maybe get some real coaching done now.

Glad to see some home grown talent being recruited. Seems like all the OK kids go else where and make it big, while OU is stuck with a bunch of out of state guys that are ask to leave or have their scholarship pulled. Bet the OK Kids don’t have 3 different colors of hair, tattoo’s from head to toe.

whoa whoa whoa, living in the past? how far in the past do you want to go? Does anyone realize that the basketball team has been good for 4 straight years, and even went to state 2 years ago?! Basketball sure is winning with “poor and starved” kids. Why can’t football? You guys are making PC West out to be a terribly poor school when it’s not! EVERY school has hungry kids, EVERY school has poor kids, it’s a way of life! Go south of the river, where you’ll find Capitol Hill and Southeast, those kids need food! Not PC West! He was hired as football coach and was is a football coach suppose to do? WIN GAMES! He wasn’t hired to feed his kids and then want the whole state to know what good things your doing. I can name countless coaches that have done the same for their players, but they don’t brag about it and make excuses for going 3-47!
If only some of you knew what really goes on at PC West….
No one wants to talk about Jensen throwing that basketball coach under the bus and getting him fired for actually WINNING and going to state! No one wants to talk about Tammy Jensen calling the pom squad sluts for their dance routine at an assembly!
Some of you all are clueless….and it’s sad that you’re drinking the Jensen koolaid

It is painful for me to see Millwood’s Quira Demery omitted from this team. After leading Millwood to the 3A state title, she was awarded tournament MVP. The Lady Falcons won the title by defeating Adair, Kansas and Prague. Now, Ms. Demery will have to pay to watch girls from those teams play. Just doesn’t seem right.

You obviously have some bitter resentment towards the Jensens because you or your child did not get their way, or you are a former employee that was let go. Either way, you are bitter moron that has NO IDEA what they are talking about! Someone who truly knew the Jensens would not say the statements you did and something is seriously wrong with you!
