I would take Hansen on my team at QB,Punter, or any other position he wanted. The kid is a great player.

“An Oklahoman All-Stater as a junior, Hansen threw for 3,079 yards and 36 touchdowns with just nine interceptions. He also ran for 773 yards and 14 touchdowns.”

He was an all-state punter, not QB? Couldn’t tell by reading the above. That may be what the others are implying.

Hansen really did punt. We don’t pick players at positions where they didn’t see time at some point during the season being selected.

If the kid is an accomplished punter then there should be no problem with him being selected All-State at that position. If he doesn’t punt at all then it is taking away from real punters and weakens his place as a first team All-Stater.

So second-team QB would’ve been preferable to first-team punter? I guess I can understand that but our thought as we pick the team is first-team at any position is better than second-team. Especially considering the first-team players are the ones who get invited to the Jim Thorpe banquet.

Also, recruiting has absolutely nothing to do with our All-State selections.

Again– you voted this kid in to the All-State Team as a PUNTER! He is not a 1st or 2nd Team QB on the DOK’s All-State team. You can give any rationale you would like to give… but you simply whiffed on that decision.

I think the Texas A&M offer could end up being decent. If Manziel is still relevant (I think he will be), I bet he leaves next year. If correct he was redshirted and he’ll be available to go to the draft after the 2014 season.

Opens up a quick shot for Hansen and if A&M can pull in some good offensive pieces (shouldn’t be a problem as they’re successful at the moment and in the SEC which is a draw for recruits), could be a very good fit.
