Of course, Jenks isn’t unbeatable – no team is. I have been watching Jenks football, though, for nearly 20 years and this team reminds me of the team that beat Enid in 2006 – a team on a mission. They are peaking at the right time and rolling opponents pretty easily. Starting the season 0-2 and going 4 years without a gold ball is probably the motivation behind this year’s drive. Barr’e is also MUCH improved over last year – he is a true burner who can turn the corner almost every time.

NN is obviously a very good team, or they wouldn’t have beaten both BA and Owasso. Keep in mind that Jenks beat them both, too, and toyed with Union last week. Just looks like Jenks’ time again.

My prediction: Jenks 42, NN 17.

Be careful Jerry, I remember Jenks ready to walk over Sapulpa in round one here a few years ago, and they ended up getting some early Christmas shopping in. I think some of the keys issues will be if Standley can convince his kids that Jenks isn’t invincible, can find a way that they aren’t in awe of the atmosphere (finals, stadium, TV timeouts) to the point that they aren’t under control (Jenks has been there – done that & won’t be overwhelmed), and can come out firing on all cylinders. His Union background and connections will give him some big-time insight (and who knows, maybe those Union coaches are assisting with that info even as we speak), but boy those kids know there are high expectations as they are representing the west in addition to their own program – can they handle all of that pressure and stimulus and not let Jenks get too far out in front? Union made some adjustments and made a game in the second half, but by that time Jenks had whipped them. The ‘wolves won’t have that luxury of time to adjust either. As with all this at this time of year, it’ll most likely be the best D that night and key turnovers (and maybe a surprise play or two). Jenks is hungry and a chip on their shoulder (regardless of some of their fans who are OU-wannabe loud idiots); they’ll be ready. I still think that through it all a big key is Standley.

Guru: That was Jenks 34 Edmond North 12, don’t think even Jenks could score 21 points in 10 minutes, on a team as good as Edmond.

WOW some of you people amaze me…These are still high school kids and anything can happen in one game! Didn’t Union beat Jenks game 1 of the year?? Then what happened. Wasn’t the Jenks-Edmond North game 13-9 with 10 minutes left in the ball game at Jenks?? What makes you think Norman North can not go compete with Jenks? It’s one game. Sounds like some Jenks fans are really sick of being second fiddle in this state! Good Luck Norman North…Jenks let’s show some CLASS!

Congrats to Norman North. Enjoy this week, its a very special time for the players, coaches, and families. I pray that your QB is not seriuosly injured and will be able to play on Friday. I know you guys have worked really hard this year and it would be a shame if you dont have all your bullets in the gun for the final shootout.

Jenks D should be able to show up. They have been there before and want the gold ball back. While Jenks lost the first two games of the season, they were short handed due to injuries, those key pieces are in the lineup again and the Trjon train is rolling. North showed some offense last night, but the defense looked like it could not stop a nose bleed. Jenks stuffed a high powered offensed and rolled a ton of points on a very good defense.

Great irony here in that while Union isn’t in the title game with Jenks, its a coach that came over from Union that got Norman North to the final. The ‘wolves ought to put Owasso on their Christmas card list, first for knocking Union out of the top bracket, and then for forgetting to bring anything that looked like a defense last night. Both Jenks and NN can come with the offense, it’ll be interesting to see who brings the D next week. If Jenks comes ready with anything like they showed last night, it won’t be that close. If NN can shore up their D and not be in awe of the title game, and hope Jenks used up their emotions and hunger last night, well – it might just be …
