I was at all three of those away games… Absolute classics, followed by sheer heartbreak the next week. We’ll see if the Rams can buck the trend this weekend.

Then where would you suggest they play when the rule clearly states “best available site on the east side of the state”. It’s a holiday weekend and not every school has a staff available and willing to host a game.

I’m not familiar with Norman North but it does sound like they have a very good team. I was surprised at the BA score last week.

Owasso travels very well to road games and quite often brings more fans than the home team. Moore in 2006, Westmoore in 2010 and Midwest City in 2011 are three examples of trips where we had more fans in attendance than the host schools.

I don’t think the site will make that much of a difference. The biggest factor this week will be the big-game experience that the Rams have.

Prog. That’s exactly my point. Owasso students and fans have to drive 23 minutes, according to google maps. Norman north students have to drive 120 miles. THAT is not even. That is what I meant by even. Fan base. Everyone knows about the 12th man. So even before kickoff… The fan base ratio is stacked against Norman north. Purely based upon location and accessibility.

I’m not sure what this means, I think they still start the scoreboard at 0-0. It sounds like the rule has been in place for 8 years now so I don’t think anyone should be surprised that the game will be held in the Tulsa area. The same game next season would be in OkC.

I’m just glad that they chose a stadium with a visitors section large enough to hold the Owasso fanbase. Some of the other options available (Bixby, Sapulpa, etc.) would not have been adequate.

My daughter is a senior. She has grown up with Jordan. He is as quality kid as you can get. i could go on and on about his great qualities, the least of which are his talents on the field. And OU is recruiting him, as of about three weeks ago. Agreed. A true champion should be able to play with anyone and anywhere. It would just be nice have the game start off even. But, I am really looking forward to it!

KB – Understand it is not a true neutral site game but this Owasso team has shown they can win at home or on the road the last 2 years. At Westmoore in 2010 and at Midwest City in 2011. Should be a good game and I am intrigued to see this Jordan Evans and wonder why OU is not recruiting him at TE or HBack like a Millard or Brody Eldridge.
Put 35 pounds on him and he would be a fit. Especially considering the dearth of talent OU has at TE, HBack or LB.

I am a Jenks graduate, a Norman North parent of three girls. No sons. I have watched Norman north steadily improve over the last 8 years, minus a few rough years as every has. I don’t know who will win, but don’t count them out.
We all know this isn’t a neutral site, but how could it be? If the game was in Edmond, it would favor North. It is a difficult situation.
As far as west side versus east side… I’ve heard this argument for years. Until union and Jenks split their schools in two, as Norman did, or three, as Moore and Edmond did, you are comparing apples to oranges. And it is an argument that will never be won. I hope north wins, and plays Jenks. I would love to play against my old alma mater!

I think they should wait until the teams are determined before they pick a field for a game to be played on. That’s the only way the field can truely be neutral.

yes Kelvon you are right. East side schools DO have an advantage over the west side schools. The problem for the west is that we just haven’t figured out how to recruit players as smoothly and quietly as Union and Jenks do ( aka Alan Trimble? ). Also, most districts here have figured out that having 4800 kids under one roof is NOT a smart idea ( but football programs LOVE it!) So the question is…what’s important in Oklahoma education? It sure isn’t academics..and trust me I know.. I am a High School teacher.

Whatever on the complainers… like it made any sense at all for Union and Jenks to play in Stillwater last year in the semis? If Norman North brings a big crowd – which you’d think they would but who knows – then it really doesn’t matter.

Kelvon you’re funny. The only two teams are Jenks/Union who have been worth a squat and some of those titles are questionable with players they’ve got. Broken Arrow and Owasso are just in it for the ride. Norman North is a much newer school (97) and Norman is finally getting it together after that split. Norman North I expect will win regardless of the travel against Owasso. I just think for any team it’s crappy. The OSSAA can say what they want, but that isn’t neutral. Guthrie would have been more fair for these two teams.

Sounds like Jim is a bitter NN dad. How about we wait until the game to see who the better team is? Owasso would travel well regardless of where it’s played. Worried about being tired? Go to bed earlier. Leave Norman earlier… Give yourself time to stretch your legs.

So much for the neutral site rule. Lets just give owasso any easy route tho the championship. Lets have norman north drive 2.5 hours so they are tired.from the drive. north has the better team so make them travel.
