Coach Kelly is intense and a fine coach. Blanchard parents are whiners. They want a diff. direction in their program? Hilarious. This is good news for Newcastle.

Sounds to me like Coach Kelly was just getting started! Too bad, teaching the importance of Commitment to teamwork, hard physical workouts to be team in the best shape on the court are getting in the way of today’s lazy mentality! I can remember the days of playing high school basketball for a man that pushed as far as we could go and then further! Because of that mental and physical challenge, that high school girls basket ball coach saw numerous ( I don’t know exact number) but you expected to see the Colbert Lady Leopards at the state championship game. I also remember being upset the year this coach did not receive State Coach of the year only to learn later that he received National Coach of the Year! Oh yes this was in 1984! Mr. Wayne Merryman was respected by his players and I can assure you most girls who played for him and against him respected his coaching! Sure there were complaints, about how hard he could be on his players, but his teams won because of him!

yet another argument for extra-duty to have the same sort of contract protections as the classroom duties of a teacher’s contract.

as things are now, extra-duty assignments have a so-called “contract”, which is nothing more than a description of the duties along with listed compensation. the fact is that “contract” can be terminated at any time, including during a game, with NO CAUSE necessary.

i don’t know coach kelley personally, but I do know that Blanchard has had a terrible reputation concerning how they have treated their girls’ basketball coaches in the recent past. I do know that the so-called expectations that weren’t fullfilled were far higher than reality would have suggested.
