Coach Stogsdill has turned that program around since he got the job. They have now beat the #1 team in 6A now they need to beat Midwest City because that hasn’t happened in 7 years. Can’t wait to see how far Del City makes a run this year!

The Tigers would have been my preseason No. 1 with Nino Jackson in the fold. Without him, I still see them being a state tournament team. Mark Wilson is a good coach who gets the most out of his players.

Overall, 5A is pretty competitive, when you throw teams into the discussion like McGuinness, Tulsa Central, Northwest Classen, Lawton MacArthur, Carl Albert and a few more. But Del City has earned its way into the favorite’s role with the amount of talent they have coming back off a team that made state in 6A last year, along with Tuesday’s big win. It’s gonna be a fun season in 5A, no doubt about that.
