Just happened upon these comments while looking at this years stats. Let me start off by saying, JOHN you are an IDIOT!! Its easy to bash coaches behind your computer. I didnt see any comments when the left off LHS players were found to be an oversight. Nice knee jerk reaction on the people that have put their heart and soul into coaching player to be the best they can be! I take it from your comments that your son is a senior. So he went…30-7 over the last three years(best in the district)!! Really seems like a reason to transfer. PATHETIC SHAME. I had great time watching LHS senior play this year and agree that Vincent Thomas should get more recognition and Diaz is the best def player in the district hand down, any grade! Brandon Dewitt is very deserving of the OL award he recieved. I know he was injuried som,e but Demarious Littles was by far the best OFF player on the field, when he was on it. You can also make an offensive argument for the QB throwing littles the balls, Brandon Bartlett, best TD to INT ratio in the district. Cant wait to see Ivan Thomas run the ball next year. How can a player with such great numbers can be overlooked as Player of the Year? It’s a shame that some coaches who have the chance to recognize players of other teams with their votes at the end of the season, cannot see beyond their own players. To recognize poor statistics over more than excellent ones, leaves a lot to be desired. After doing some research, Diaz should had been recognized with the highest honor, hands down. If only the coaches had left their personal agendas at home, the voting would have been more fair to a lot of deserving players. Shame on you, coaches. Hope you do better next season…

OOPS, FORGOT ABOUT THE OTHER CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR, CROUCH. HE HAD HALF THE SACKS OF DIAZ AND 40 LESS TACKLES. LOOK AT VINCENT THOMAS FROM LHS, HE HAD 140+ TACKLES. WE HAD TO BATTLE WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT AND OUR DEFENSE HAD TO WIN SOME GAMES FOR US. THOMAS WAS THE BEST LINEBACKER IN THE DISTRICT. HAVE NOT SEEN PITZER’S NUMBERS BUT I’M SURE THEY ARE NOT CLOSE.

HOW THE HELL DOES DIAZ FROM LAWTON NOT WIN DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR? FACTOR HAD 25 TACKLES LESS THAN DIAZ AND DID NOT EVEN COME CLOSE ON SACKS. NOW I KNOW HE PLAYED ONE MORE GAME THAN FACTOR, BUT THAT STILL DOES NOT MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE.

@John, now that the Lawton kids have been added to the list, does it now make it apparent that the Lawton coaches DO in fact care about their team? Im sure they spent hours upon hours upon hours of their weeknights and weekends up at the office busting their butts trying to win ball games because they dont care about their players. Im sure the reason that they spent more time working on football then they did with their own wives and children at home was because they didnt care about their players! I would spent almost every waking moment of my day working on and trying to better a group of kids that I didnt care about too! Wouldnt you?? You idiot!

SFWolves, I am a Mama Wolf. I agree with you that Justice is the BEST! However, this is an award that is awarded to seniors only. It doesn’t mean anyone on this list is better than Justice, because you and I know that’s not the case. When Justice is a senior he will definitely receive an All-District award as well as 100 different other awards I’m sure. It doesn’t mean sports are going down the drain, it just means that underclassmen are not eligible for this award.

I’m a proponent of honoring the best players vs. just the seniors. But it’s the coaches team to select (understand a bit more with the coaches’ all-state team since only seniors can participate in the game).

All District teams should be about who is the best, regardless of whether or not they are a senior or freshmen. Its absolutely ridiculious what sports is coming to. Just give everyone ribbons & don’t keep score while were at it.

Not sure yet why the list I received initially didn’t have the Lawton players included but I did receive those players in a separate e-mail today and have added them to the initial post.

@Reasonable, I am by no means bashing any of the U.S. Grant players. I give them all the credit in the world for sticking with their team and finishing the season with less than 20 players. I did get to watch U.S. Grant play this year and they did have some good quality players that deserve this honor. @guru, I hope that is the case. But just proves to me that the coaches from Lawton don’t care about their team, especially when they are allreaddy looking forward to next years team. As they have since the beginning of this season. Just feel bad for the Lawton kids who went to practice everyday, summer weights everyday, played their heart out every week and to not be recognizied is just a shame.

Guys I am just telling you that if Lawton has no players listed on the All-District team it’s because the head coach did not turn in their list. And if his players did not recieve many All-Distict honors it may be because he did’t make the meeting???

U.S. Grant has that many players on district because they worked very hard and even faced with the odds of having less than 20 players on the team and having to face some of the best teams in the state they stayed with it.. So i think it REASONABLE to think of the circumstances before bashing such a team.. And, you should also remember that just because a team has a horrible record doesn’t mean they cannot have good players.

John I hope this is an oversight as well. It would be sad to think that someone only felt two players were worthy of being on the district team. Those were a great bunch of seniors that played out there this year.

U.S. Grant has more players on the all district team than Lawton high. That is really pathetic. I sure hope this is an oversight on someone’s part, cause if that is what the Lawton coaches came up with for their selections for all District team, then I just lost all and complete respect for them. I told my son to transfer 3 years ago. Too bad he didn’t listen to me. JUST PATHETIC.

Okay so Lawton High has two seniors listed in the top five sack leaders and they also have a linebacker that led in tackles. Is there some reason why those kids didn’t make the list? LHS had more then two good players on the team.

Didn’t forget them. This was the team as it was provided and, presumably, as it was chosen by that district’s coaches. The only Lawton players included were Diaz and Dewitt on the individual honors.
