I just review the first instance mention and I see that Kiefer is clearly in for about 2 seconds and everyone lets up, the guy blocking 45 and all the Guthrie players... then I see 45 role number 5 for McAlester over and jump on him clearly after the play knocking his own teammate in the process... idk that I call that just football I think it happens in football sometimes but that was a little late

LeFors is a possible D-1 guy this year, no offers yet put some interest from what I understand, and Mize #3 and Pratt #7 are both So. that have that potential with their athleticism... As far as Braxton goes I believe he lead the class in receiving and honestly has made some catches this year that I have never seen a high school receiver make... His leaping ability and size and speed but him above or behind almost every cover guy this year

Ok Justice: You lost me when you suggested McAlester has 2-3 other possible D1 receivers besides #14 and the guy who got hurt. If that is your "unbiased" assessment of the McAlester offensive options, I wonder if the guy who didnt play is really any good. I have not seen him play, but I sure saw the other 2-3 "D1" receivers of which you speak. Uh, I dont think so. And Guthrie didn't match up like you suggest. Callens, Guthrie's best D-back played right corner all day, rarely, if ever matching up on #14.

All that being said, You are right about OSSAA decision.

its common football sense... if you have a 6'3", 4.5 running, D-1 receiver getting looked at by about every Big 12 school you either have to cover him or he will burn you... the only other possible outcome is you double or triple team him to shut him down which opens up opportunites for another D-1 reciever on the other side of the ball and 2-3 other WR that could very possibly go D-1

Bri I know my God and would never try to assume His authority or position in any way... I am speaking because I know football... and I know his ability... He would've been able to make some plays the WOULD've changed the game... he WOULD've made the coaches put the best cover guy on him or he WOULD've hurt them himself... this would've put the second best on Boyd who did hurt them against the probably the best cover guy... it would've match Lefors who made an amazing play against the third best cover guy and so on... the matchups then WOULD've been more in McAlester's favor.. when McAlester was throwing with the wind it WOULD've made a difference to have him there... just at the very basic level that he would've demanded respect in the coverage whether he made a play or not

justice~ u speak as if youre God. oh if had braxton we WOULD have did this WOULD have done that. if the weather was good we WOULD have won. u dont know anything for certain. the weather was hindering guthries abilities also. we too could have been better than we were. u not think about that? as mentioned in my previous post, braxton could only have made a difference, if the ball even made it to him, and as u clearly seen lot of mcalesters passes were knocked down at the LOS.

rafe failed 2 file a paper. it wasnt mandatory, he didnt break any rules. had he filed however, the family in question would have been informed that no one is allowed 2 live in the house without a lease agreement. bc clints minor contributions 2 the season didnt weigh heavily, and rafe sacrificed himself, Guthrie was allowed 2 continue on. who knows if jenks, btw, jones or whoever appealed or not. maybe they knew they were guilty and didnt want to try fighting. nobody knows all the facts on those cases. the ossaa did tho, and made their decision, just like with guthrie. the appropriate people were punished, and maybe this will set precendent for cases in the future. until then, put your crystal ball away and get over it!

I am from Mac... I chose the tell the story of the game as Jason did... I think I argued the same points he did... as I have said there is no doubt Guthrie executed, and they may have played better... they had great game plan no doubt... to keep McAlester's offense of the field was a great idea for sure... nontheless, in regards to the OSSAA ruling, I am speaking more against the OSSAA then against Guthrie... the won I wish them the best against a team that is really really good... I hope that Guthrie does win so that we have the arguement that we got beat the state champions... I wish Guthrie the best and their boys the best I hope we meet them again with a different result in the playoffs next year... I am in no way trying to take shots at Guthrie, I think my first posts about the plays were probably best kept to myself... I am just a incredibly proud fan of the Buffaloes this year and wish that our SRs who were truly all in would've had a different ending to their career... my problem isn't with Guthrie or their players... its simply and entirely with the OSSAA and their poor decision

Upon further review on a bigger screen #75 was not as close as previously thought... it looked alot closer... and my arguement about Braxton is this... when the Buffs had the wind and were able to throw the ball they could've used Braxton over the top to loosen up the coverage on the short plays and to loosen up the defense on the run... I give Guthrie credit for the win no doubt and the call was a great call... but I still feel my other arguements are valid...

As a neutral HS football fan, who lives 1 hour from Guthrie and 2 hours from McAlester, and who drove 2 hours to see this game, I have some observations.
First, I think the OSSAA set a bad precedent in reversing its decision. Second, It is unfortunate that Buffs lost a key offensive player. Third, In my opinion, Buffs one dimensional offense, not being able to consistently run the ball in that weather, is the main reason they lost the game. Another player to throw to probably doesnt change that. Fourth, Buff coach's decision to go for two right off the bat, put them behind the eight ball when they didnt convert, and forced his hand the rest of the game on extra points, (muffed snaps and bad snaps dont happen to championship teams). Fifth, QB throwback was a brilliant call, executed brilliantly and doesnt look to me like #75 came within 5 yards of tipping it, much less "inches", didnt look like it at the time, doesnt look like it on the replay, the ball was pretty high when it passed over him. Sixth, Whining about who got the calls, breaks and the weather, does a disservice the the kids on both teams, who showed the hearts of champions on Saturday, in victory and in defeat.

Fair point and I admit Guthrie played better when it mattered... but this is the same thing that happened with OU with the loss of Broyles... Broyles was Jones' security blanket and the effects are obvious in the was that the offense has played in recent games how much he is missed... the same thing is to be said about Braxton... he has been Kiefer blanket all year... he is the Buffs best WR... a D-1 talent... you take Davis or Callins or Chappel or Dutton off Guthrie what happens to them?... I think with Braxton Mac wins a close one... without you see what happened... and as far as the muffed punt... McAlester has a missed snap on a 2-pt conversion... a bad snap on an extra point attempt... and a missed snap on 4th and goal from the less that 1 yard line... that execution to a point on both sides... but the things I meantioned were just freak incidents that fell in Guthrie or anyone that happened to be play Mac that day's favor

You could go come up with things like that for every single game in any sport ever played.

To play devil's advocate, if Guthrie's receiver makes the right read, Bryan Dutton doesn't throw the interception in the second quarter that was returned that set up McAlester's third TD.

If Guthrie doesn't get mixed up on a fake punt attempt in the fourth quarter, McAlester isn't set up for the 43-yard TD that brought the game within 3 points.

See? You can say that McAlester caught several "breaks" that made the game closer than it should have been. But you would probably respond and tell me that McAlester's DB just made a good play, and that Kiefer and Lefors made a good play on the TD catch-and-run.

We can go back and forth all day, but my point is that Guthrie was better and they won.

What I meant by the caught every break is the totally freak injury of Braxton, who would've cause many problems for their defense... the weather that hurt McAlester's offense itself... the pass on the throwback that was literlly less than an inch from being tipped by a back side lineman... that is just a few examples... it is simply by chance that they happened no doubt and luck is part of the game... but it just seems like they are simply catching every good situation possible...

My guess is that Chappell wasn't sure if Kiefer had scored or not, and was trying to stop him outside of the endzone. That's what that looked like from a completely unbiased perspective. And I've seen shots at the face like that taken by kids at every school when they are blocking them. I don't know what their motivations were, but I can say with absolute certainty that they aren't dirty players.

What do you mean that Guthrie has caught "EVERY break since the ruling by the OSSAA"? I've been at all three of Guthrie's playoff games, and it hasn't been about catching breaks, it's been about the Bluejays being the superior team. If you want to argue that they caught a break by getting their forfeits overturned, that may have some merit. But since then? They've just beaten people. That's all.

Like I said, reasonable people can disagree on the question of whether Guthrie should have been let into the playoffs. But the bottom line is that they were let in, without the ineligible player in question, and they've been better than all three teams they've played.

so the 240lb Chappel jumping on Kiefer after he cleary scored was ok? the two shots to the face on Pratt at the end of the throwback were ok? don't get me wrong it is football and McAlester surely had their moments... but these are in the tape... I don't like the fact that McAlester and the other 30 teams in the class had no blemishes on their record at all and Guthrie did... I don't like the fact the BTW was clearly the #1 team a few years ago and were forced to fofeit their games and given no chance to play in the playoffs like Guthrie was... I come with my arguement from a point of view of being fair... Guthrie out played McAlester most of the game holding the to the lowest offensive numbers all season... but the fact is this to me... Guthrie has caught EVERY break since the ruling by the OSSAA... and it is not just people in McAlester or BTW fans that argree... I have talked to people all over the state including EC, El Reno, Durant and others who think that Guthrie deserved the same punishment as everyone else before them

.... Just when I said there were no McAlester fans on here complaining, one shows up. Justice, I watched all three of the moments that you mention, and they didn't seem dirty to me. They look like kids playing football and playing it hard. Little things like that aren't dirty, and I'm sure if you watch film of McAlester with a close eye you'd see them doing little things like that. It's football.

I've covered Guthrie all year, and while you might not like the OSSAA ruling, these kids aren't dirty -- especially the three that you just singled out.

Go watch the clip at the 1:50 min mark and watch Chappell pile on Kiefer after the play... How about the 2:14 mark where 54 throws a McA lineman outta bounds and jumps on him after the play... or at the 4:30 mark where the Guthrie player blocking number 7 punches him in the helmit TWICE! Dirty much?
