Ryan, your rankings look a lot better now!! Kelley played Lawton Mac at their place, were only down 21-14 to start the 4th quarter and had them pinned at the one yard line. Believe me, Mac knew they were in a tussle that could go either way! Props to Mac and Paras for making the back-breaking 99 yard TD that essentially ended the game. Mac is a great team and I hope they get the gold ball. I don’t think we will be hearing any whining from the Ardmore fans this weekend!

That’s my whole point. I’m going off the body of work also to this point, playoffs included like Mr. Aber. Schedules, all that. To be honest I would probably take it better if T. East Central were ahead of us instead of Bishop Kelley after reviewing some things. They should be ahead of Kelley. I just don’t see it with BK, sorry. Nothing wrong with agreeing to disagree. It’s not the BCS but if you’re going to do it, do it to the best of your ability and be as accurate as possible. No need to go by close and closer. How about they did that! Go Tigers!!

I understand the rankings to an extent. He is ranking for the body of work, not just one week. I am not saying I agree or disagree, I just see what he is doing. But again, these rankings are all opinion. It’s not the BCS!! It will all be decided on the field. GO HIGHLANDERS!!! (I hate playing a team twice!!)

I saw there were 17 comments about this forum. I said “what could they be saying”?. I found out it was mostly a bunch of cry babies saying their team was not rated high enough to suit them! There is a playoff system in Oklahoma that will decide who is the best team, this top ten means nothing!

toughest schedule in 5A, that would
mean “GUTROCK” would have 2B on

5A-2 is very, very good at the top. But there’s a huge gap between those three and the bottom five. There isn’t that big of a gap in some of the other districts. And I wouldn’t say the Guthrie-Carl Albert district although in that district the main dividing line is from the top four to the bottom four.

5A-2 is not good are you kidding they have 2 of the 4 in the semis and 3 of the 8 in the quarters. What other district is better? Don’t say the Guthrie district they had one team left after the first round and Deer Creek and Ada are terrible.

No, I don’t penalize them for that although I don’t necessarily believe that’s true. Ardmore’s non-district schedule was absolutely the toughest in 5A but the bottom five in their district were not good at all. I’m not saying Ardmore isn’t a very good team. I’m not saying, when all is said and done, that they won’t be ahead of Tulsa Kelley. I reevaluate things, in totality, after each week at this point of the season.

Also want to say that I appreciate the inquiries on this. If nothing else, keeps me on my toes while doing these rankings and forces me to have rationale for every placement.

Easy. I don’t penalize a team JUST because of their position on the bracket (while still understanding that they may be in that spot because of what they did/didn’t do during the regular season. It’s not automatic that the top 4 teams make the semifinals, top two make the finals, etc. Like I said, there’s an argument to be made for Ardmore over Kelley but they don’t deserve it just because they advance a round further. Ardmore has improved quite a bit from earlier in the year and their results show that. I look forward to seeing what they do on a neutral field against Lawton MacArthur this week.

Coweta? When were they in the top 10? Maybe in your poll??? They finished 6-5 to end the season with no significant wins either on the weaker eastside of the state in 5A. Did Coweta beat anybody worth anything? No worries, T. Kelley didn’t either. Maybe in your head there’s a logical reason to put T. Kelley ahead of Ardmore but to the real sports fans know the deal. And my credibility is golden, everyone can see right through this portion of your rankings.

Tulsa Kelley did beat Coweta twice, talking strictly about top 10 wins. Ardmore does have some big wins to hang their hats on and they have no losses outside of the top 10. That’s impressive. The game this weekend, even should Ardmore lose, could change my mind. I can understand disagreement between where those two teams are placed but to say there’s not a logical reason to have Kelley ahead of Ardmore says something about your credibility.

I read what you wrote above which is why I responded. It doesn’t matter who played who closer. They lost the game just like we did. The difference is we have some BIGTIME wins to fall back on. T. Kelley has 0 wins against top 10 competition. Ardmore has 2 wins against top 10 teams on the ROAD. This case should be closed. Do the rankings right so you won’t lose credibility.

I have nothing against Ardmore. I wrote above why I kept Tulsa Kelley above Ardmore. I’ve been really impressed with Ardmore’s season, especially the way they’ve bounced back after a brutal schedule to start the season. And the reasoning you just mentioned regarding East Central is why I didn’t put the Cardinals above Ardmore. I considered it, based on a number of factors, and decided Ardmore deserved to be ahead.

Both Ardmore and Tulsa Kelley lost to McAlester and Lawton MacArthur. In both cases, Kelley’s loss was closer and in both cases, the Comets went on the road.

OOh WEE you guys just don’t like the Ardmore Tigers!! No matter the sport. We love it! Why is T. Kelley still above Ardmore? They have three losses: Bishop McGuiness(4A), McAlester, and Lawton Mac. I don’t see one significant win on their schedule that would put them ahead of Ardmore. That schedule looks suspect to me. Especially with Booker T having their worst season in years.

Meanwhile Ardmore has 4 losses. Carl Albert, McAlester (25-20 a loss is still a loss right?), Lawton Mac, and Duncan. All of them were top 5 teams in 5A all season long(Duncan top 10). All of them were in the quarterfinal round besides Carl Albert who we beat in the first round on their home field. We have wins against #2 Carl Albert and #9 Pryor on their home fields in the playoffs. Please explain why T. Kelley is above Ardmore and why you would even have the nerve to consider putting T. East Central above Ardmore when we DID what they couldn’t do, which is beat Pryor in Pryor. Where I’m from we call this kinda stuff, HATERISM.

The reasoning is poor or you just don’t agree with it? I assume you’re referring to Ardmore’s placement. Yes, Ardmore did beat Carl Albert. My pick for Carl Albert, though, came before Guthrie was placed back in the playoffs, which greatly altered the makeup of the bracket. Ardmore also lost to Lawton MacArthur, at home, 45-14 while Kelley went on the road and lost 31-14. I’m comfortable with my reasoning on that pick. Thanks for the comment.
