Saban definaately violated the rules…

Saban MET WITH SANDERS in the cafeteria area as part of a tour of the Heritage Hall campus.

Sanders told The Oklahoman that Saban told him that he believes… “BAMA RUNNING BACK MARK INGRAM IS GOING TO FOREGO HIS SENIOR SEASON AND DECLARE FOR THE NFL DRAFT.”

Saban said… “INGRAM, WHO WON THE HEISMAN TROPHY AS A SOPHOMORE, WILL MAKE HIS DECISION FRIDAY.”

Saban asked about… “THE STATUS OF SANDERS FOOT INUJRY.”

When Saban is later questioned about the visit, he said is was nothing more than a hello.

TIME FOR THE NCAA TO CRACK DOWN ON SABAN, WHO IS ALREADY A HEAD COACH UNDER A VARIETY OF SUSPENSIONS.

IF THIS GOES UNPUNISHED, THE NCAA IS NOT DOING THEIR JOB!

Saban said more than hello, according to Sanders…
From the articel…

They wanted to reassure Sanders that the Tide are extremely interested.
“It was cool of him to do that,” Sanders said. “He seemed nice, and he just said it would be great to have me.”
Saban met with Sanders in the cafeteria area as part of a tour of the Heritage Hall campus.
Sanders told The Oklahoman that Saban told him that he believes ‘Bama running back Mark Ingram is going to forgo his senior season and declare for the NFL Draft. Saban said Ingram, who won the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore, will make his decision Friday.
But Ingram isn’t the only quality runner in the Alabama backfield, and he most likely wouldn’t be Sanders’ potential competition. Sophomore Trent Richardson rushed for 700 yards and six touchdowns to complement 266 receiving yards and four scores this season.
Saban asked about the status of Sanders’ foot injury.

Looks like a clear violation to me.

Forrest, I think you are referring to Jim. I am on the same page as you. They obviously talked much more than just saying hello.

Also Jim, You’ll notice the article was edited after my post. Nothing was mentioned initially about the rules for juniors.

Jason, YOU NEED TO RE-READ THE ARTICLE. According to Sanders, in the article, there was a heck of allot more that Saban said to him.

A basic hello like he did is not considered a contact. The coaches brought out the kids introduced them and then the kids left so that was it no conversation with the kids just a quick hello. The HS Coaches would turn it in as a secondary violation if it was illegal and so would Alabama.

Re Read the article he can stop by and meet with his coaches and say hello to the kid. That is legal according to the rules and the article. Saban knows the rules even the ones they make up for him.

NCAA guideline 13.1.1.1 states that “Off-campus recruiting contacts shall not be made with an individual (or his or her relatives or legal guardians) before July 1 following the completion of his or her junior year in high school….”

I believe the violation here is that Sanders is a Junior. The rules you have listed are for Seniors.
