I’m not siding one way or the other, but the truth is some of Yukon’s studs will be back next year.

Whitney Ellis, Madi Ellis, Kilee Halbert, Caitlyn Halbert are all underclassmen.

You could make a strong case for Kylie Lang (I have) or Lindsay Buckley or Amanda Madden, but I get the whole ‘wanting to spread the wealth around’ theory.

They proved it on the field that they’re better than all the rest, but I guess the Oklahoma Coaches Association still doesn’t believe it. There’s no way to justify the lack of selection of Yukon girls (except one, and she is very worthy) to the All-State team. How’d they win state if they’re not good enough for an All-State honor? Usually to the victor goes the spoils, but in this case most of the spoils were divvied up amongst the also-rans.

It amazes me that Yukon has 7 seniors and won the state tournament and has less All-Staters then Midwest City who never even made it out of regionals.

Yes, All-State is just seniors. That is why only one from Yukon and ZERO from Edmond North. Girls like Madi Ellis, Whitney Ellis, Kilee Halbert (Yukon) and Kady Self, Jordan Dixon, Abby Taliaferro (Edmond North) will have their moment later.

Now for my All-City team (that I’m still working on), classification means NOTHING to me. Only the best players.

Three All-Staters from Moore and only one for the State Champion Yukon Millerettes? That don’t seem right. Is it a honor just for seniors? what if an underclassman gets injured her senior year, but she helped her team win a state championship as a freshman? Doesn’t make sense to me, guess I don’t understand the politics of All-State selections.
