I had plenty say about an eventful day 1 of the Oklahoma Coaches Association clinic, but all that can wait a day after the devastating news.
Bethel golfer Kyle Lewis died in a one-car accident coming home from the all-state golf event.
Prayers go out to the Bethel community and all of Lewis’ family and friends.
Reporter Scott Wright got to cover Lewis in basketball and golf and will have his thoughts on what a special kid Lewis was in a blog post Tuesday.

Monday: Here is Scott Wright’s short story on it.
Tuesday: Coaches, friends reflect on Lewis’ life.
Wednesday: Bethel holds vigil for Lewis at HS gym.

I am so blessed to have been involved with Kyle’s golf career and to have known the Lewis family. It was truly a privledge to have him share his ups and downs with his game. What a tragic loss for the whole golf community. I wish all junior golfers could take some of Kyle Lewis and make it part of them. We don’t have these kind come along very often. Thoughts and prayers to all the family.

Kyle was such a great person in everything he did. He was a leader as you might say in and out of sports. He was a good hearted person and had great qualities most people dont have he will be missed by so many.
Kyle was one of the best friends I’ve ever had. Our friendship started when we were in third grade and has been strengthened every year since. He is a great athlete, person, and friend. He will never be forgotten.
Our state has lost a special Oklahoman who just happened to be a gifted golfer and basketball player. My sons both competed against Kyle who yes, was a great competitor, but more importantly a stand up young man…winning or losing with grace and humbleness..a true testament to the quality of his family.
Our family joins the others here and across the state in being in prayer for the Lewis family and the Bethel community.

Kyle was a great person in every way. He was a role model for many people younger and older than he was including myself. Many will mourn our loss of a great leader. May this happening inspire us all to be great as Kyle was.
I am the aunt of Cale Jackson a teammate of Kyle Lewis’s , Cale has talked about Kyle often and taken many ACT tests with him, challenging each other all the way. Kyle will truly be missed by everyone and the world has lost one of the best. Heaven has gained a perfect angel. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time of sorrow.

I do not have the words to express how much Kyle will be missed. Kyle and his mom and dad are such special people. They dont make many people as good as the Lewis family and I am honored to have known Kyle and his family. My prayers go out to you….
Sincerely,
Amanda
