Boys Basketball Power Polls
Lots of movement in the rankings this week, so here’s a sneak peek at the boys basketball Power Polls that will be in Tuesday’s paper:
Big schools
1. Edmond Santa Fe, 6A (16-1): Utilizing strong depth to battle through current stretch of six games in 10 days; plays PC West tonight.
2. Douglass, 4A (19-0): Will face Star Spencer Saturday, one of two opponents to stay within single-digits of the Trojans.
3. Broken Arrow, 6A (16-1): Another win over Muskogee to cement their spot as the east side’s top team.
4. Putnam City West, 6A (10-8): Monday’s news of five forfeits hurts the record, but the Patriots are still one of the state’s best teams.
5. Putnam City, 6A (16-3): Can’t solve PC West, but the Pirates have all the tools to defend their title.
6. Tulsa Memorial, 5A (15-2): Eight-game win streak includes three wins over teams in 5A’s top five.
7. Muskogee, 6A (13-2): Six games remaining in the final two weeks of the regular season.
8. Tulsa East Central, 5A (14-4): Three of four losses to Tulsa Memorial and Edison; Cardinals at Edison Friday.
Small schools
1. Millwood, 3A (15-5): The Falcons have shown dramatic improvement since the start of the season, beating 5A No. 10 Northwest and 4A No. 2 Star Spencer on consecutive nights last week.
2. Cascia Hall, 3A (15-5): Went on the road to knock off 6A Owasso on Saturday.
3. Sequoyah-Tahlequah, 3A (13-5): The Indians haven’t lost to a team below 5A since Dec. 11.
4. Garber, A (16-2): Edged Class B’s top team, Roff, for the second time this season.
5. Bethel, 3A (18-1): Two dominating victories since suffering first defeat.
6. Talihina, 2A (18-2): Faces Class 3A No. 11 Hartshorne tonight in toughest test remaining before playoffs.
7. Pawnee, 2A (15-3): Black Bears have won 10 straight since losing to Garber in the finals of the Morrison Tournament.
8. Watonga, 2A (19-0): Big road win over local rival and Class A power Okarche last week.
