I read in the daily oklahoman all the time about the great athletes around the state but sometimes they are missing some great players from small schools. my grandson Cody Dalton Kenny who will be a senior this coming year 2010-11 plays for Mooreland high school in Northern Okla. He is a standout in football as a linebacker, defensive back and running back, he is a standout in basketball as well as track. He jumped over twenty two feet in the 1a state track meet and took second place. He also was invited to participate in the Oklahoma track coaches association track meet and placed second place jumping twenty two feet five inches against all classes. I wonder why no one seems to know where this young man is and why the colleges haven't seemed to interested in a small town player. Any suggestions Attention Robert Przybylo Staff Writer

I have waited to cool off before I commented....El Reno goes 12-1, loses to state champs of Carl Albert in semi-finals, has a defensive back (Matt Pruitt, 5-1 Defensive Back of the Year)tied with the 5A interceptions (8), had more tackles then some of your other DBs (101) . Plus El Reno had at least two linebackers (Corey Daulphin (103 tackles with five ints) and Tank Mulanax (126 tackles with 4 ints)) that should have been in one of those slots, based on stats compared to a couple of your selections. Amazing, not one El Reno defensive player made your All-Star team. Ask your All-Stat selection at wide receiver from Lawton how he did against El Reno's LBs and DBs with those mentioned above. He did have a long TD...against El Reno's JV.

Question? Nothing against the player, but how does a linebacker with only 43 tackles make your All-Star linebacker? Oh, wait, you listed his offensive stats. Just really confused me on that pick when there are plenty of other linebackers with three times as many tackles, mutliply interceptions, sacks, fumble recoveries.

It cracks me up the fact that sports journalist are "making these selections". First of all the OKLAHOMA COACHES ASSOCIATION picked the all-state for 2009. These journalist who think they might be qualified to make the selections and then make a huge production in the paper about their selections should be ashamed of themselves. They don't know how hard the true all-state kids worked to get that distinction, with only minimal recognition. The coaches vote on that from all over. I'm thinking they (coaches) might be more qualified. These "journalist" have abused their power to publish their "favorites" in their paper and make it seem this is the true all-state selection. You guys called "sports journalists" are a joke and you are misleading people!!!

Can you tell us how to get the 1952 Daily Oklahoman All State Team listings, from the first team through honorable mention. This is for the old "used to be, almost were, wish we were" guys trying to prove a point to some outstanding latter day players. I expect to pay for the research, of course. As I recall, only seniors made the team and it was a combination of ALL classes not a single team for each class. In other words a Class "B" guard could be picked over a class "A" guard. Granted it did not happen ofter but it did happen ie, Ronny Gandy, Class "B" tackle, 1952. He was not alone that year, plus numerous honorable mentions. The classes were much fewer then, Class "A", "B", "C" and "Boomer". There may have been another. I could be having a "major senior moment", if so, sorry about that. Would you please tell me how to acquire the complete 1952 list. Thank you.........

Stacy,
Our All-State team does include underclassmen. Last year, Delans Griffin of Clinton was on the team as a junior. The team selected by the Oklahoma Coaches Association (that plays in the All-State football game) is seniors only. Ours is more exclusive for a couple of reasons: 1. We allow underclassmen to be selected and 2. We pick just 25 players (11 offense, 11 defense, kicker, punter and kick returner) for our first team.

And Dylan Parker is certainly deserving of recognition after turning in a very good junior season.

Thanks for the question.

I was just wondering why oklahoma does not do like arkansas and let the deserving underclassmen recieve some of these honors if your not a senior you get nothing.AND I WOULD LIKE TO THROW THE QB from valliant, oklahoma in the mix he is only a junior but had very respectful numbers last season he had over 2000 total yards and 27tds.but he is not a senior and that is not fair i am sure that some of the senior kids you guys select are not going on to play at the next level might not even be getting looked at.But i know for a fact that the QB from valliant, oklahoma is being recruited by okla,st,missouri, iowa st.louisville, southwest baptist out of missouri.and being able to add some high profile honors to his resume would sure help this young man it would sure look good to that college recruiter when he looks at your file.just something i think you guys should consider in the future if a kid deserves it let him have it regardless of his grade in a sense you guys are hurting some of the underclassmen in this state.

You guys do a great job every year. I just want to throw Sam Crabtree's name, from Bishop McGuinness, in there as a selection for All-State Receiver or D-back. Although he had a season ending collarbone injury in game 5, he had class leading stat's up until that point...especially when you consider that Bishop McGuinness isn't known as a passing team and they had a sophomore quarterback with no previous varsity experience. He also had the class leading respect and compliments from the other coaches in 4A that continued to come in throughout the season(including Sallisaw's head coach at the quarter finals game). He will be completely healed up by the time the ALL State game is played, and he would be a good one for the show. He has Drake, Brown University, Tulsa, and Oklahoma University showing interest still and will be playing next year at college.
