Edmond POW: Kameron Doolittle, Memorial

Edmond Memorial prides itself on its running game. And why not with all the talented backs it has? But the Bulldogs were a man short heading into last week’s playoff battle with Mustang.
With junior Cale Olbert out, it was going to be up to D’Juan Brooks to carry a bulk of the load. However, it also changed passing scheme.
Memorial only threw it eight times and instead, let quarterback Kameron Doolittle run wild just like in the good ol’ days.
Doolittle ran for three touchdowns to pace Memorial to a 38-7 against Mustang and earn the Edmond Player of the Week honors.
The Bulldogs are riding a seven-game winning streak into Friday’s battle at Jenks, and the way Doolittle and senior Blake Umberham handled the quarterback switch is a HUGE reason as to why.
Doolittle didn’t throw it much, but fellow chum Scott Wright told me Doolittle was very accurate early, and that opened up the run game even more.
Doolittle scored the first two touchdowns on a 19-yard and a 20-yard run and put the game away with a 48-yarder in the fourth quarter.
Other contenders
Hunter Dawson, DB, Memorial: Made the biggest play of the game taking an interception back 106 yards for a touchdown at the end of the first half to put Memorial up 21-0 at half.
Joe Aska Jr., RB, North: Against a a stingy Lawton defense, ran for 124 yards and two touchdowns in the 34-16 loss at Cameron Stadium.
Memorial defense: A shocker here, no? Giving up seven points to the high-powered Mustang team is incredible. The Bulldogs caused four turnovers and have given up seven points in the last 14 quarters.
Memorial O-Line: How about a hand for the boys in the trenches? You can have a plan to run it all day, but you need the line to back you up. Memorial had 37 carries for 277 yards.
