Titan Fan,
I certainly understand the sentiment. And Tulsa Washington won’t move themselves up by not participating in the playoffs. But I think when you look at what they’ve done (on the field) through 10 games, they deserve a spot there. Eric Bennett is still the best high school player I’ve seen this season.

And while I didn’t pick the matchup for the championship game, I did pick the Titans to win the title in today’s paper.

There’s certainly an argument to be made for Edmond North but Putnam North’s resume is impressive in that they beat Southmoore and Del City. Del City might’ve been a bit overrated given the way they’ve played but I also saw them play like a top five team on occasions this year. Everything went wrong against PCN and a lot of that can be credited to the Panthers.

Edmond North’s defense has been tough this year. But I worry the offense is going to cost the Huskies in the playoffs, maybe as soon as this week against Lawton.

The last line should read…”You should only rank the teams that made it in to the playoffs”. Sorry I fat fingered the previouse submition. By the way Carl Albert will play Shawnee in the State Championship. And CA wins their eighth Championship in the past twelve years. Is that DOMINANCE or what?

Ryan, I agree with what you said about BT Washington, But a forfeit is a Forfeit. You shouldn’t even have BT ranked in the top 16 due to the fact they are not even in the playoffs. You should on rank the team that made it to the playoffs.

I don’t know Ryan. Not that these rankings mean all that much at this stage of the game, but Putnam north rusume is not all that immpressive. Best win is against Southmoore, got spanked by Norman North and beat an overated Del City team. At least both our losses were against playoff teams. As far as defenses go, don’t think your giving the husky defense as much credit as they deserve. Outside of the Midwest city game, this defense has been as good as anybody. Also held bone’s beloved bulldogs to just 3 points offensively. I know you guys cover a lot of schools so I’ll help out where I can.

“My beloved Bulldogs?” Really? I’ve picked Edmond North in nine of the 10 weeks. And heck, I’ll tell ya right now, picking both Memorial and North to get through round 1, and I’m heading to Lawton to cover the Wolverines and Huskies.

Lawton was Farrows first game, but he had just found out that day that he had been cleared by the OSSAA if I remember the news reports correctly. Lawton was an off day for Mustang, all teams have them. I would question Midwest City over Mustang, agreeably they have an easy district, but they were also defeated by Del City in non-district play when Mustang dominated Del City.

I do think Farrow coming back was part of it. It’s different for a player to come in during the middle of the season, even if he has been practicing with them all year. That said, I do think I short sold Lawton’s defense a little bit on that one. The 14 points Mustang scored in that one were its lowest of the year (by 14 until they were held to 19 last week). Looking back on it, it’s even more impressive. The last time Mustang was held to 14 or less points? Oct. 5, 2007.

You’re right, if I was going to include Del City and Enid on the others, I should’ve included Edmond North as well. They just struggled so much at the end of the season offensively (in a lot of ways due to the loss of their QB)that I can’t justify them being ahead of anyone in the top 10 (although, like Lawton, they did beat Mustang). If the Huskies can get things going on offense during the playoffs, they could be dangerous. The path for them, however, is difficult.

Ryan, you’re trying to justify it being his first game back. That’s a bit disingenuous. He didn’t get going because the Wolverines were putting bodies on him and shut him down. Lawton gave an awesome defensive effort that night against him and the entire team regardless.

Ryan, you are incorrect in your assessment of the Lawton win over Mustang. Farrow was cleard that day and played in the game and gained a touch over 100 yards. I am surprised that you are unaware of that. The Wolverines were really the only team to keep him in check. Yes, it was his first game, but he’s been practicing with them all year. He’s a good back and Lawton kept him down. Having said that, I don’t think it warrants putting them ahead of Mustang or Bartlesville either.
