Deer Creek: An absolute M*A*S*H unit…

Tape and braces is all that is keeping up together at this point.” - coach Grant Gower
It’s been one big injury after another for Deer Creek. And needing a win at Lawton MacArthur, there couldn’t be a worse time for all this.
Star-in-the-making RB Colten Sander is already out for the season. In the second quarter vs. Altus, QB Alex Christensen breaks his hand.
Gower switches from being under center to nothing but pure shotgun, but it’s too painful for Christensen.
Tyson Wade comes in and breaks his collarbone soon after, so the Antlers are down their top running back and top two quarterbacks.
Sander’s replacement, Tyler Price, tears ligaments in his thumb, so he’s banged up.
Hunter Dinkines is now in at quarterback. Or is he? For now, Gower plans on going with Dinkines in this spot.
But there have been whispers that freshman sensation Joe Blumenthal (hope I spelled that right) (Boneman’s note: It’s Joel Blumenthal. Thanks, DC followers) might make an apperance. Joel led the freshman team to a perfect 9-0 season and opposing coaches and DC parents have been wondering if Joel would see some time.
Ideally, Gower would like to not have to use Joel in such a big spot. But because Dinkines is such a big contributor as a wide receiver, he hasn’t ruled it out.
Wouldn’t that be something if a freshman quarterback in his first varsity game leads the charge in a hostile environment and puts the Antlers in the playoffs?
I’m getting ahead of myself at this point, but it’s a possibility.
