Bethany gets a new QB

Bethany will have a new quarterback this week when they close out the regular season Friday night against against Pauls Valley. Silas Day began the season as the starter but quit the team on Monday for unknown reasons. Ryley Claborn will replace Day. Claborn is 16 of 36 for 190 yards and a touchdown in limited action.

I can’t seem to understand why this story is reported in this manner. This is a high schooler, not someone on scholarship at college. Why not ask the coach instead of the kid? You know that he has to be upset, so why bother him? Seems rather boorish if you ask me.

Why ask a friend when you can go right to the source? Plus, Patterson, Aber, Pryz are pretty respectful guys I don’t think they would have been ruse on the topic.

Day left the team because the Coaches told him on Sunday that he would no longer be the QB, that they were deciding to go with Claborn. When he showed up at practice on Monday, he was accused of being divisive and chose to leave the team to avoid the hassle. The Bethany coaches are not finding a replacement QB because Day quit. The Bethany coaches replaced QB Day, and he left the team–because he was placed in a difficult situation by the circumstances, especially since he has been a popular leader on the team and many of the kids were not thrilled by his demotion.

It seems such a sad and very unusual thing to take a winning and good senior quarterback away from his playing position on senior night and the near end of the season.
Silas was a leader of the team I understand. Why would a coach do that?
