Game Capsule: Westmoore at Norman

Norman (3-4, 2-2 6A-2) at Westmoore (3-4, 2-2 6A-2)
When: 7:30 p.m. tonight
Where: Harve Collins Field

Norman
Why the Tigers can win: Norman realizes this is the biggest game left in terms of making the playoffs. Westmoore is in the same position as the Tigers in the district standings and both have a winnable game and a game their not likely to win left on the schedule. That means this one is crucial. Norman will capitalize on that fact.

Westmoore
Why the Jaguars could win: Same reason as Norman. This game is the most impostrtant of the remaining three in order to make the playoffs. However, the Jags have a better chance of winning out after tonight than the Tigers, so they may not put as much as importance on this game.

Key matchup: Norman defense vs. Westmoore’s running game.
The Jags have gotten back to their roots with their running game. They’ll still throw it, but with running backs Cody Feuerborn and Jonathan Rhodes playing well, expect Westmoore to stick to the ground. Norman, meanwhile, could be without its top defender in linebacker Greg Offenburger. In that scenario, Stephan McElroy and Michael Barrett with have to step up their game and shut down the Jags’ running game..

The pick: Norman 30, Westmoore 28. The Tigers can get multi-threat Jaime Myers back this week and tailback Donovan Roberts is coming off a career-best performance. Westmoore will be in it until the end, but Norman wins another tight one for the second straight week.
