Painter, Bothwell sweep again for Jags
One runner at Norman and two at Westmoore are keeping things very familiar in Class 6A cross country.
Norman’s Megan Johnson and Westmoore’s tandem of Taylor Painter and Toby Bothwell all completed sweeps last week.
Johnson remained unbeaten with yet another first-place finish at the Mustang Harrier Invitational on Thursday. Johnson covered the 3,200 meter course in 11:55, keeping her streak of sub-12 minute finishes alive as well.
As for Bothwell and Painter, the two seniors swept the individual titles at the Oklahoma Baptist meet Saturday. Painter cruised in 12:22 and Bothwell won by 18 seconds, covering the 5K course in 16:18. Painter’s victory led the Jaguars to the girls team crown.
Naomi Hernandez (third), Lauren Robinson (fifth) and Morgan Roberts (eighth) all had top-10 finishes for the girls.
Zach Escabedo (eighth) and Zeke Herrera (tenth) did the same for the boys team.
