McAlester deserves to be in Top 10.
They threw a shutout at Broken Bow, a Top 5 team in 4A.
The Buffaloes have two shutouts to start the season.
You’ve got some really good teams in 5A, but surely they could have squeezed in after that performance.
Broken Bow’s last home shutout loss was nine years ago. It ain’t easy to do in the old rock stadium.

How in the world can you not have Ryan ranked in the top ten in class B when they beat the number 4 team in class c by a score of 60-22 and you have Alex ranked in class b and they lost to temple 20-30. Ryan may not be that good but at the moment they look about 48 points better than alex on head to head scores.Spend some time on 8 man. ryan, if they don’t get anyone hurt should be fifth behind The big 3 form the northwest and fox. the big 3 from the nw are the best.

Ryan, while I usually agree with most of the stuff you put, I disagree about putting Southmoore ahead of Del City. I know why did but I think you have to prove it on the field to put a team ahead of another not just becasue a team got some certain players eligible. I was at the Del City game and it did take some time to get the offense clicking but it you can attribute that to the weather as they had to change the game plan to a lot of running rather than a lot of passing like they usually do. It was a great equalizer against an otherwise bad Norman team. Otherwise the standings look good to me and keep up the good work.

Good win for Tyrone and they’ve got a chance to get into the rankings but they did play a JV team last week. Let’s not get too carried away with them. They could be good, or Buffalo good be not so good. Or both. Right now, I think Tyrone is a much improved team but not quite a top 10 squad.

Where is Tyrone after beating the 5th ranked team and being 2-0 they still dont make top ten???? Tyrone is my surprise team this year expect many good things from this team

Yeah, I definitely think that’ll help balance out the power a bit and yeah, if someone other than Jenks were able to win that district, it could definitely swing things momentum wise.

I think next year Southmoore moving into the district with Jenks and Broken Arrow is great. Sometimes the West teams can put them on too much of a pedestal since they don’t really see them until playoffs. So much of HS ball is attitude and momentum, that by playing them regular season some of the mystique will wear off and I think things will turn around.

I will admit, though, you’ve got me thinking more and more about Owasso’s lack of offense. I’m definitely going to give it some thought the rest of the day. The thing with them, though, is we really won’t be able to tell until the playoffs. There are such gaps, I think, between the top team in that district (Union) and the second (Owasso) and everyone else that the Rams won’t be tested much until Lindsay is back. Not sure on Trent Spurgeon’s status but if Owasso loses the rest of the way to any team not named Jenks or Union, they will not only drop but will drop far, far down.

Here’s the thing, though, Mike, it isn’t about knocking Jenks or Union off once. That’s happened. But nobody’s knocked Jenks AND Union off in the same year. That’s what has to happen. The last time a West-side team won in 6A was Midwest City in 1995. I thought Midwest City and/or Mustang had a great chance last year and look what happened.

I understand about Owasso’s offense but it isn’t surprising given the injury to their QB, Joe Lindsey. From my understanding, Lindsey should be back soon. Owasso plays Jenks next week and they could hold their place with a loss but also could fall if they lay another offensive stinker. If I thought one of those teams behind them could beat Owasso, I’d have them ahead of the Rams. I don’t. It has nothing to do with East-West. I think there are a lot of good teams in 6A on the West side of the state (Just look at Lawton’s district for the indication of that) but I don’t think they compare to the cream of the crop in the East, at least not yet.

I’d love to see it happen, but until they prove it on the field, there’s always some doubt.

Back to Lawton, I can pretty much guarantee you that if they take care of business the next two weeks, like they should, they will be ranked in the top 10 even if they’re not by the end of the day. Then the district schedule turns brutal and we’ll see how things shake out. It’s certainly been a good start for the Wolverines, though, and I do think they’ve got an excellent shot at the playoffs.

By the way, when Owasso was only up 4-0 to Muskogee, the FG drive in the fourth started after Muskogee shanked a punt and Owasso started from Muskogee’s 9 and COULDN’T PUT IT IN FROM THERE!

Owasso 2 games and 155 total yards offense! I know I’m beating a dead horse, but I think the West side has a tendency to defer to too many teams on the East. All that’s needed is for a team to knock over Jenks or Union apple carts once and then maybe we can get over this East side dominance.

ZERO OFFENSIVE YARDS on a dry field is a pretty good indicator! BA also lost four fumbles that O could do nothing with. As for week 1, they were only up on Muskogee in the early fourth 7-0 on strengh of 2 safeties and a field goal. Total offensive yards there was 155!? I think my point is made about them. They are pretenders and they had better start showing something or Jenks next week and Union in three will spank them soundly. Good teams may make mistakes, but to lay an all around goose egg at home spells big trouble.

I think Owasso could be headed for a fall but the Rams did handle Muskogee this week and I think Broken Arrow is the class of teams not named Jenks or Union. I’m not near as reactionary as others who do rankings. I thought about dropping Owasso behind Del City but watching Del City play Thursday night, it took their offense awhile to get clicking. Maybe it was the rain that night but I still get the feeling Owasso is better than what they showed Friday.
I’ve really been impressed with Miller so far and do think Lawton has a good chance to be ranked by the time the day’s over.

Owasso is way too high! BA handled them 28-0 with zero offensive yards and they only go down one spot? They would have big trouble with all of the lower half of the ranked teams. I’m looking to see Lawton get in there at at least #10 after Mustang goes down to Ed North. “’They are so quick everywhere,’ (Coach)Manning (Mac) said of the Lawton High defense.” QB Miller 293 passing, 66 rushing, RB Smith 141 rushing. 502 total yard offense.
