Very good analysis. I was definitely impressed with Choctaw's quarterback. He hit a few nice throws, including a couple of decent-length touchdown passes.

I think 3A comes down to Clinton and Cascia Hall for the title and the Red Tornadoes have a serious shot when it does.

Clinton QB Ryan Stringer wasn't as sharp last night as I've seen him before but that's to be expected this early. He won't have to face any defense in 3A that's as quick as Douglass was last night.

I'm really looking forward to that Week 7 game between McGuinness and Douglass and can't understand why it won't be televised. I was disappointed when they announced the schedule that no OKCPS team would be on TV this year. The only positive thing I can say is at least there'll be plenty of room in the press box at McGuinness. Should be a lot of great games this year featuring those teams.

Wow...this was a great 3-team scrimmage. All three teams played like they were headed into their first district game of the season instead of their first game of the season. Since most state champions are defined by their defensive play though, I would have to say that Douglass was the leader last night by far. They basically manhandled both Choctaw and Clinton all night. After Choctaw drove down the field for a TD in the first Douglass-Choctaw series, due to very good quarterback play on Tanner Hessman's part in both passing and running, Douglass woke up and shut everyone down after that for the entire scrimmage. Choctaw really didn't have an answer for Clinton's offensive, especially for Delans Griffin each time he came in. Clinton's quarterback looked really good as a leader and passer, but didn't make many connections on either team. The ones he did make were well thrown and placed though. Pre-season rust I am sure because this QB can run an offense and deliver. The 3A class, without stating the obvious, needs to be concerned in taking on Clinton. Between Griffin and their talented QB, that is a lot of options to have to stop. Clinton's defense was very good in controlling the game as well. Not really even close to Douglass in speed or size, but definitely capable of still holding teams to 0 points. They might give up some yards and long plays, but not likely going to give up the points. Teams that face them better have a good kicker is all I have to say. As for Douglass though, other than the wake up call in the first Choctaw series, no teams had success at all. Griffin was contained in the backfield virtually every play and no meaningful pass completions out of the Clinton quarterback. Whew, district 4A-1 is going to have a show down in week 7 when Douglass and McGuinness hook it up at McGuinness. I am not ready to rush through the season already because it is going to be a total blast watching this year's teams, but local television might want to reconsider the games they have scheduled to broadcast. This will be a serious game for the viewing public. As for the Douglass-Millwood game, this will be another explosive game, but instead of rivalry and fan animosities fueling a negative atmosphere, it will be all about the talent on the field. This should be the first time in a very long time that both teams come together with talent and skill...not inflated ego's or history energizing the fans. This is going to be a true show. Fans from both sides should go to this game planning on "no talk, just watch"....they will be amazed.

As a Clinton grad and a Western OK resident I am very excited to see Griffin play his season. Hate to say it but Tech got a "steal" out of this kid. But I think he compliments their offense real well. Should be a fun season in Clinton.

He was definitely impressive tonight and that night against Tuttle.

Asked him about Tuttle after the game, too.

"We're ready for them," Griffin said. "They got lucky last year. We want to get back at them this year when they come to Clinton. Them and Chandler."

Some schools might've shied away from him because he's not a very tall guy, but I think Griffin will be a good fit in Lubbock.

I saw Delans Griffin's long run on Fox 25. Wow.
Tonight might have been Oklahoma City area's best chance to see one of the state's most explosive players because the Clinton-Tuttle district showdown will be played in Clinton this year.
I was in Tuttle last year and he was electric that night too, though he fumbled the game away about three times.
