Norman has options aplenty at wide receiver

Norman may not have big receivers, but the Tigers do have big-play receivers.

Diminutive wideouts Jaime Myers (5-9, 165), Kyle Carter (5-9, 165) and Roger Kelley (5-7, 140) have made an impact early (and often) at Norman preseason practices. What’s more, Gavin Edington, who at 6-2, 175 is the giant of the receiving corps, has also stood out, giving quarterback Chad Anderson a plethora of stout pass-catchers to choose from.

At tight end, the Tigers have Seth Zimmer, also a little on the small side by tight end standards (5-10, 180), who provided a highlight-real play in Norman’s first intra-squad scrimmage. Zimmer made a one-handed stab of an Anderson pass down the left sideline.

“We have so many different guys I can go to, I go through my progressions and always have a good option,” said Anderson following Monday’s practice. “We have a lot of really good receivers. And they all have different things that they do well.”

Myers, who also plays cornerback and returns kicks, is one of the Tigers’ most explosive players. The junior ripped off a 75-yard run in Saturday’s scrimmage at Harve Collins Field.
