Heritage Hall ready to ‘Charge’

After talking all last week with the Heritage Hall coaching staff and players Garrett Valdez, Joe Bugg and Ford Binning, one thing stood out to me: these are not your normal high school kids.
They looked like kids, sounded like kids, but their actions were anything but what most high school kids are like.
It’s almost as if they’ve had their fun and games the last couple of seasons, and this year is all about business. And Chargers business this year meaning taking home a Class 2A state title.
Over the summer, the kids went to California and helped underprivileged families. And the impact is evident. I don’t want to say that they’re playing for those families they helped, but it’s almost like the light bulb went off and time for foolin’ is over.
After their first two outings, it’s extremely tough to bet against them. But tomorrow night offers a stern test from No. 5-ranked Davis.
And Davis is angry. After losing 21-0 to Sulphur, the Wolves went from No. 1 to No. 5 in 2A. A lot is expected of Jody Weber’s group, and this would be a great way to try erase some of the bad memories of last week.
It’s also a chance to make a statement to Valdez and company. If there’s a next time these two meet, the stakes will a lot higher. And the winning team tomorrow night has every right to feel like it has the inside track to the title.
The pick: Heritage Hall, 24-20.

Bethany over Tuttle? Geez you really need to do some more research before making predictions.. Bethany doesn’t stand a chance of touching Tuttle the #2 Team in 3A is much better competition than Bethany has faced this far, and have one of the top running backs in the State averaging 295+ yards a game, not to mention one of the top defenses in class 3A. The only 2A teams that might be able to play with Tuttle are Millwood, and maybe Davis or Heritage Hall.
