Tiger Woods gives interview to ESPN, Golf Channel

Tiger Woods speaks with ESPN reporter Rinaldi (AP photo/ESPN)

Tiger Woods gave a televised interview Sunday (March 21) to ESPN and the Golf Channel where two reporters were able to ask him questions about his scandal.

Remember, last month he had that so-called press conference where no reporters were allowed to ask questions.

In his new interview, he answered questions from ESPN and the Golf Channel, but here’s the catch.  He only allowed them to interview him for five minutes.  The two sports stations had to agree to the terms.

That’s just like Tiger Woods. Still trying to control the media even when he’s down. His five-minute interview with ESPN is posted below.

I would like to give a special shout out to CBS News.  A reporter for CBS News was invited,  but the station declined because they didn’t want to agree to a five-minute time limit.

In the first sentence, I said Woods gave a televised interview.  Actually, five minutes is not considered an interview. That’s considered a warm-up session.

You barely have enough time to ask someone there first name in five minutes.

The Real World cast member urinates on housemate’s toothbrush

A cast member on the upcoming season of MTV’s “The Real World: Back to New Orleans” urinated on another cast member’s toothbrush, causing him to become sick.

Cast member Ryan Leslie told police he got into an argument with Preston Roberson-Charles three weeks earlier.  He later became sick with a sore throat and fever, and he told police Roberson-Charles urinated on his toothbrush and scrubbed the toilet with it, according to a police report

He also said he was treated at the hospital for a viral infection as a result.

This will be the 24th season of the MTV’s “The Real World.”  There is usually always drama, fighting, alcohol abuse, screaming, sexual promiscuity, infidelity, pregnancy scare, racism, sexism and homophobia.

Those are reasons the show is still popular after more than two decades.   But urinating on a toothbrush is where I draw the line.  The cast member who did that should be jailed. That’s way beyond the line of disrespect.

The New Orleans season of “The Real World” will air later this year. The cast members are currently living and filming in a home owned by NBA player Baron Davis.

Why didn’t celebrities reach out to Corey Haim?

During the past week, I’ve seen celebrities paying their respects to actor Corey Haim this week on entertainment news shows, at movie premieres and on their Twitter and Facebook pages.

Haim, 38, died March 10 at his mother’s California apartment.  His private funeral was held March 16.

Haim’s best friend and frequent acting partner Corey Feldman said something interesting to Larry King during a recent interview.

He said,

“At the end of the day, where were all these people the last 10 years, the last 15 years of Corey’s life? Where were all these people to lend a hand–to reach out to him and say, ‘You know, you’re a legend. You’re an amazingly talented, wonderful person who’s really never gone out of his way to hurt anybody other than himself?’”

Feldman makes a good point. If all of these celebrities loved Haim and were friends with him, then why didn’t anyone try to lend a helping hand during the past 15 years when his life spiraled out of control due to drug use?

It doesn’t do any good to reach out to him while he’s dead.

The same thing can be said about Michael Jackson. Celebrities distanced themselves from Jackson during the past 15 years while his life spiraled out of control with prescription drug abuse among other behaviors.

But when he died, hundreds of celebrities showed their support by attending or performing at his funeral or participating in numerous tribute projects.

His memorial service looked like a red carpet event for the Academy Awards. Celebrities were popping up out of nowhere.

Jackson could have used that support while he was alive. It doesn’t do any good to reach out to him while he’s dead.

Brandy and Ray J reality show

(From front left) Ray J, Brandy, Willie Norwood and Sonya Norwood (VH1)

Brandy and Ray’s reality show will debut April 11 on the VH1 network.

The show “Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business” will feature eight episodes that will be one hour each, according to VH1.

The show will follow the two R&B singers around along with their parents Willie and Sonya Norwood.  It will show how the Norwood family operates as a close-knit family and the Norwood family as a business.

Ray J had a previous reality show on VH1 titled “For The Love of Ray J.” During that series, Ray J tried to find true love on the dating show.

Ray J also has a successful recording career.  His song “Sexy Can I” peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Meanwhile, Brandy had a successful music and acting career during the 1990s.  She won a Grammy for her duet with Monica titled “The Boy Is Mine” in 1999.

Her acting credits include “Moesha,” “Thea,” “Cinderella,” “Double Platinum” and “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.”

Donald Trump will have regular people on The Apprentice

Donald Trump will bring the little people back to his “Apprentice” show.

Instead of casting celebrities for the sixth seasons, Trump announced the season will feature regular contestants who were affected by the economic downturn.

“The Apprentice” debuted in 2004 on the NBC network.  Trump frequently used the phrase “You’re Fired” during the show, and it became his trademark phrase.

Growing Pains producer accused of child pornography

The cast of "Growing Pains."

I was a fan of the sitcom “Growing Pains” during the 1980s.  The writers and producers of the show came up with good story lines and a good plot for most of the episodes.

But one of the executive producers of the show allegedly has a sick fetish for children.

The executive producer Steven Marshall pleaded guilty and was sentenced March 16 in Arkansas for distribution of child pornography.

Marshall will serve seven-and-a-half years in prison.

According to the Associated Press, Marshall was accused of sending and receiving child pornography and participating in “online chats detailing child abduction, bondage, rapes and murders.”

Marshall was the executive producer on 61 episodes of “Growing Pains” from 1986 to 1991, according to Internet Movie Database.

He was also executive producer on “Just The Ten Of Us” from 1988 to 1990 and a writer for “WKRP in Cincinnati” from 1979 to 1982.

Details on American Idol’s Anoop Desai new album

(American Idol/Fox)

Season eight “American Idol” contestant Anoop Desai’s new song titled “My Name” will be released March 23.

The song will appear on his upcoming album “All Is Fair” which will be released May 4.  The album will have an Indian, R&B and pop flavor, according to a press release from his publicist.

Desai placed sixth on ”American Idol” in 2009.

During the show he sang songs from a variety of genres and musicians, including Boyz II Men, Stevie Wonder, Bobby Brown, Jimmy Ruffin, Michael Jackson, usher, Willie Nelson, Cyndi Lauper, Bryan Adams and Donna Summer.

In 2009, he was nominated at the Teen Choice Awards for best summer tour, along with the other “American Idol” top 10 contestants from season eight.

Nicknamed “Noop Dogg” on the show, Desai was one of my favorites to win the title.  But he fell short because “American Idol” viewers/voters weren’t smart enough to keep him on the show by voting.

Desai was raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, by his Indian father and South African mother, according to a press release from his publicist.

Desai is not currently tied to a record company.  His album will be released independently.  Fans can keep up with Anoop on his Web site at www.anoopdesai.com

Season seven “American Idol” winner David Cook, newcomer pop singer Ke$ha and newcomer rock singer Orianthi will perform on Wednesday’s episode of “American Idol” (March 17).

Wednesday’s episode is the results show where contestants will find out who is getting eliminated from the competition.

Ke$ha will perform her latest single titled “Blah Blah Blah” and Orianthi will sing her song titled “According To You.”

“Blah Blah Blah” is the follow-up to Ke$ha’s popular song “Tik Tok,” which spent several weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Orianthi’s “According To You” peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100.

I first noticed Orianthi last year when she performed as Michael Jackson’s lead guitarist in his concert footage film “This Is It.”

Fox executives did not announce which song Cook would be singing.

Jersey Shore cast is moving to Miami Beach

Four members of the "Jersey Shore" cast (AP photo)

The cast of “Jersey Shore” will not return to New Jersey for a second season.  Instead, they are moving to Miami Beach.

Twelve new episodes will begin airing this summer.  No word yet on whether the show will be renamed “Miami Shore.”

“Jersey Shore” debuted on the MTV network in Dec. 3 with 1.3 million viewers. During January’s finale, viewership reached 4.8 million.

“Jersey Shore” cast members were Mike “The Situation” Sorrrentino, Angelina “Jolie” Pivarnick, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola and Vinny Guadagnino.

I think Miami Beach is an excellent location for the second season.  I visited Miami Beach last year, and that city was filled with beaches, clubs, bars, restaurant, tourist attractions and beautiful people.

Plus, there will be no shortage of drama in that city.  This season should be better than the first season.

Spartacus star Andy Whitfield has non-Hodgkin lymphoma

Andy Whitfield as Spartacus

Executives from the Starz televsion network announced production will be halted on the new show “Spartacus: Blood and Sand.”

The star of the show, Andy Whitfield, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma during a routine checkup while he was preparing for the second season, according to the Associated Press.

Whitfield, 38, will undergo treatment, and the shooting schedule will be postponed until treatment is complete, network executives announced.

“Spartacus: Blood and Sand” premiered on the Starz network in January.  Thirteen episodes have been filmed.  So far, I’ve seen one episode, and it was worth watching.  It’s based on the historical figure and gladiator Spartacus during the first century B.C.

The show also stars Manu Bennett, Peter Mensah, Nick Taraby and Lucy Lawless.

“Precious” actress Gabourey Sidibe to star in television show

“Precious” actress Gabourey Sidibe is already reaping the benefits from her Oscar nomination.

The actress is now set to star in the Showtime television show “The Big C.”  According to Entertainment Tonight, Sidibe will play a student of actress Laura Linney’s character.

The show centers around Linney’s character, who was diagnosed with cancer, but she tries to find humor in the disease, according to Internet Movie Database.

The TV show will begin airing this summer.  Along with Linney, Sidibe will star alongside Oliver Platt, John Benjamin Hickey, Simon Kassianides and William Duffy.

Sidibe was nominated for an Academy Award for best leading actress for her role in the film “Precious.”

Although she lost the Oscar to Sandra Bullock, Sidibe won outstanding reviews for the role–especially since it was her first acting job.

A photo gallery of Sidibe at the Academy Awards and Governors Ball is posted below.  Click on the Associated Press images to enlarge them.
