Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey might be rivals on the music charts, but they will soon be co-stars in director Tyler Perry’s next movie.
Perry announced the cast for his upcoming film titled “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.”
Yes, the title is lengthy.
The film will star Jackson, Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kerry Washington, Kimberly Elise and Loretta Divine.
Perry told MTV the movie will be released in late 2010 or early 2011.
The movie is based on a 1975 play that deals with rape, abandonment and abortion.
With the list of high-profile names attached to this film, it will probably do well at the box office.

Mariah Carey to release remix album

Pop diva Mariah Carey is preparing to release a remix album.
The album titled “Angels Advocate” will be in stores March 30, according to a record company news release.
The album will feature remixes and new versions of songs that were on her “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” album.
The first single from the remix album is “Angels Cry,” which is duet with R&B singer Ne-Yo.
Carey will go head-to-head with Usher when her remix album is released March 30 because Usher is releasing his new album Raymond v. Raymond on the same day.

Jamie Foxx said it best when he sang “blame it on the al-al-al-al-al-alcohol.”
MariahCarey responded to reporters’ questions about her mumbling acceptance that she gave at Tuesday’s International Film Festival Awards.
During a backstage interview with reporters backstage at the People’s Choice Awards, Carey said alcohol was to blame for her tipsy behavior at the film festival.
She said “We were celebrating and having little splashes, and I hadn’t eaten, and that’s what it was. We were celebrating the movie and all the exciting stuff going on. There’s a time for celebration and a time for not – but really technically, it’s a party atmosphere. We had splashes of champagne. I love Lee (Daniels), but he’s a bad influence.”

There has been lots of talk about Mariah Carey’s behavior at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards.
Carey won an award for her role in the film “Precious.” When she gave her acceptance speech, her behavior was bizarre.
Some people are speculating she was drunk. I’m not going to judge her. She’s one of the most successful and hardest working singers in the world. Therefore, maybe she deserves to get tipsy every once in a while.

Pop star Mariah Carey is going on tour to promote her latest album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.” The 19-city tour titled “Angels Advocate” will kick off Dec. 31 in New York City, and it will end Feb. 27 in Las Vegas.
Her opening act will be RydazNrtist, a new music group who is signed to her husband Nick Cannon’s record label.
I attended a Mariah concert a few years when Busta Rhymes was her opening act. Not only can Mariah sing well, she also puts on a good stage show.
Tickets will go on sale Dec. 19. The tour dates are listed below.

Unlike many celebrities, Mariah Carey won’t be ringing in the new year sipping on crystal or Belvedere vodka.
Instead, she will be performing a show for her fans. Carey will host a concert the night of New Year’s Eve at Madison Square Garden.
Carey made the announcement on her Web site. Tickets will go on sale Nov. 9 for members of her fan club and Nov. 14 for the general public.
Carey also recently completed filming a music video for her new song titled “H.A.T.U.” The song appears on her album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.”

Pop singer turned actress Mariah Carey will appear on two late night talk shows this week to promote her upcoming film.
Mariah will appear will be on “Jay Leno Show” tonight (Nov. 2) and CNN’s “Larry King Live” on Wednesday (Nov. 4) .
She has a role in the film titled “Precious,” which also stars Gabourey Sidibe Paula Patton, Mo’nique and Lenny Kravitz. The film’s executive producer is Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry.
The movie will be in selected theaters Dec. 3. The movie is about the hardships of an overweight girl named Claireece Precious Jones who was sexually abused and impregnated by her father and physically abused by her mother.
Mariah portrays a social worker in the film. The trailer is posted below.
Meanwhile, Mariah’s music career is in full swing. Her latest CD “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is currently number 14 on the Billboard charts. The CD features the songs “Obsessed” and “I Want to Know What Love Is.”

Superstar singer Mariah Carey failed to reach the number one on the Billboard charts this week. Her new CD titled “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” didn’t even make the number two position.
Instead, it debuted at number three. The CD sold 168,000 copies in its first week.
Barbra Streisand’s “Love is the Answer” occupies the number one position, and Paramore’s new CD “Brand New Eyes” took the number two spot.
Having a CD reach number three is an accomplishment for a new or mediocre artist. However, it’s considered a disappointment for someone of Mariah’s caliber because most of her albums debut at number one.
Mariah released two singles to support the CD–”Obsessed” and a remake of Foreigner’s “I Want To Know What Love Is.”
Maybe if she goes on a concert tour and do extra promotion, the CD might have longevity. The complete Top 10 Billboard Albums chart will be posted later today.
Mariah Carey’s new movie
Mariah Carey is starring in an upcoming film titled “Precious,” which will be released in selected theaters later this fall.
The movie is about the hardships of an overweight girl named Claireece Precious Jones who is impregnated by her father and abused by her mother.
Mariah portrays a social worker in the film. The abusive mother is played by comedian Mo’Nique.
The movie is based on the novel titled Push written by Sapphire.
The film also stars Paula Patton, Lenny Kravitz. “The View” co-hostess Sherri Shepherd and Gabourey Sidibe.

Christina Milian is pregnant
I think we now know the reason why singer/actress Christina Milian and music producer Terrius ‘The Dream” Nash eloped in Las Vegas earlier this month.
Christina is pregnant with The Dream’s baby, according to US Weekly magazine. The couple confirmed their engagement two months ago, and they secretly wed in Sin City on Sept. 4.
It’s probably because Christina wanted to marry and fit into that wedding dress before the pregnancy started to effect her slim figure. Congratulations to the happy couple.
Christina recently appeared in “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” and “Bring It On” Fight to the Finish.”
The Dream recently completed songs for Mariah Carey’s upcoming CD “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,” which will be in stores Sept. 29.
Mariah Carey postpones album again
Fans of pop star Mariah Carey will be disappointed to learn the release date for her new CD “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” is being postponed again.
Carey posted a message on her Web site that said “Mariah is putting the finishing touches on her newest album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, and we have shifted all of our TV and promo appearances to coincide with the new release date of September 29th. We can’t wait for the fans to hear the new album!!”
The CD was originally scheduled for release Aug. 25, then it was postponed to Sept. 15. Now, the new date is Sept. 29.
Her song “Obsessed” is currently number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Carey also cancelled a concert performance on NBC’s “Today Show” scheduled for Aug. 28. She will be replaced by Miley Cyrus.

R&B singer/actress Christina Milian is engaged to music producer Terrius “The Dream” Nash.
Milian appeared in “Love Don’t Cost A Thing,” “Be Cool,” “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past,” and the upcoming film “Bring It On: Fight to The Finish.”
Her biggest musical hit was “Dip It Low,” released in 2004. However, Def Jam dropped her from the record label in 2006, a week after her greatest hits CD was released. She soon rebounded with a record deal on MySpace Records.
The Dream produced Carey’s number one song “Touch My Body.” He also produced “Umbrella” by Rihanna, “Leavin” by Jesse McCartney, “Bed” by J. Holiday and “Moving Mountains” by Usher.
Ironically, Milian’s fiance (The Dream) is Mariah Carey’s music producer, and Milian’s ex-boyfriend is Mariah Carey’s current husband Nick Cannon. I’m noticing a pattern here.
Mariah Carey disses Eminem in new music video
Mariah Carey released her first video from her upcoming CD titled “Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel.” The song is titled “Obsessed.”
In the video, Mariah appears to be dressing as rapper Eminem, and the lyrics to song seem to be addressed to him as well.
Here’s the backstory…. Eminem and Mariah went on a date several years, but it didn’t work out. Eminem suggested they were once a couple, but Mariah repeadley denied they were ever a couple.
Eminem even targeted Mariah in his song “Bagpipes From Baghdad.” Now it’s Mariah’s turn to get revenge. In the song, she is suggesting that Eminen is obsessed with her. The video and song lyrics are posted below.
Good for Mariah. Eminem has been dissing everyone since he first started his musical career. Mariah is one of the first victims to respond.

Mariah Carey apologizes for terrible performance
If you saw pop singer Mariah Carey perform Tuesday at Michael Jackson’s memorial service, you probably noticed how she sounded… let me think of a polite way to say this… She sounded terrible.
She sang the Jackson 5 hit song “I’ll Be There” along with Trey Lorenz. Throughout her performance, her voice cracked several times, and she sounded very amateurish.
On her Twitter page, Carey apologized for her performance and explained why she didn’t sound so good.
She said “Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me. I could barely keep myself from crying. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him there in front of me.”
I’m sure she was emotional during the service–everyone was. There wasn’t a dry eye in the building.
However, I think she might be using that as an excuse for her lousy performance.

Info on Mariah Carey’s new album
Mariah Carey’s new CD “Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel” will be released Aug. 25, according to her Twitter page.
The CD cover is posted above. On Mariah’ s Twitter page, she said “The reason I chose to use 3 images for the cover is cos there are a lot of different emotions and stories revealed on this album. I knew it would probably leak today so I figured might as well give it a nice debut I hope you like this.”
The first song from the CD is titled “Obsessed,” and you can currently hear it on various radio stations. The song is produced by The Dream, who also produced Carey’s 2008 hit song “Touch My Body.”
A new music video is in the works, and I will post it here when it’s released.
Carey’s last CD title “E=MC2″ sold $1.3 million copies since it was released last year.

Nick Cannon will host America’s Got Talent
Jerry Springer resigned as the host of the NBC show “America’s Got Talent,” and he will be replaced by none other than Mariah Carey’s husband Nick Cannon.
For those of you who assume Cannon lacks the experience to host a popular talent show, think again.
Before marrying Mariah Carey, he was the host of the popular MTV show “Wild’n Out” and as a teenager he played on the Nickelodeon sketch comedy show “All That.”
No other changes have been made to the talent show. David Hasselhoff, Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan will continue to serve on the judges panel.
I’m not sure if this will happen, but I predict that Mariah Carey will make a guest appearance.

Beyonce and Mariah Carey will perform for Obama’s inauguration ball
Beyonce has been selected to sing for Barack and Michelle Obama during their first official dance Tuesday at an inauguration ball, and Mariah Carey will perform her hit song “Hero.”
Beyonce’s song of choice? She will be performing “At Last” by Etta James. Beyonce recently portrayed Etta James in the film “Cadillac Records.”

My New Year’s resolution for celebrities (part 1)
– My News Year’s resolution for Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson is for them to tell us the truth soon about whether they are pregnant. They keep denying media reports that they are pregnant, but yet, we keep seeing photos of them gaining weight. Please show us the pregnancy test results so we can put this behind us once and for all.
– My New Year’s resolution for Barack Obama is for him to stay away from all religious pastors. First, he got in trouble for associating himself with Rev. Jeremiah Wright who blamed America for the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Now, he’s under heavy scrutiny for selecting Pastor Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at his inauguration. Warren has a history of making derogatory statments about gay people.
– My New Year’s resolution for MTV is for that network to start airing music videos again. MTV stands for Music Televsion, but they rarely air music videos. They typically only air reality shows. Maybe they should change the the name to RTV (Reality Television).
– My New Year’s resolution for Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Kim Kardashian is for them to find a real full-time job. I get annoyed when I see them making millions even though they don’t have a job.
– My New Year’s resolution for Caroline Kennedy is for her to stay away from the U.S. Senate. Just because her last name is Kennedy, that doesn’t mean she should be appointed to that seat.
– My New Year’s resolution for George W. Bush is for him to NEVER run for public office again. No explanation needed.
– My New Year’s resolution for Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen is for them to gain some weight. It’s very unhealthy for adult women to weigh 75 pounds. They need to go to McDonald’s and eat a couple of Big Mac’s, fries and an apple pie every day this year until they tip the scale at 105 pounds.
– My New Year’s resolution for Tyler Perry is for him to take his sitcom “House of Pain” off the air permantently. That is the worst sitcom I have ever seen.

Mariah Carey drank alcohol and puts to rest pregnancy rumors
The gossip magazines and the tabloids were all wrong. It appears that Mariah Carey isn’t pregnant after all.
Paparazzi who followed her and her husband Nick Cannon to St. Barts in the French West Indies Dec. 30 took pictures of Mariah drinking red wine.
The pictures were posted on the Celebrity Vibe Web site.
Mariah sparked pregnancy rumors when she appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show last month.
Ellen asked Mariah if she was pregnant, and Mariah avoided the question. So, Ellen poured a glass of champagne for Mariah and told her to drink a sip. When Mariah refused, everyone speculated that she was pregnant.
Well, it turns out that she is not pregnant because she was spotted drinking alcohol the other day, and we all know Mariah is way too smart to drink while pregnant.
