Military soldiers spoof Lady Gaga video

Military members of the 82nd Airborne Division decided to have some fun while deployed in Afghanistan.

A group of soldiers put together a home video spoof of Lady Gaga’s music video for “Telephone.”  The spoof is becoming a hit all over the Internet, and it’s been featured on television news programs as well.

The video clip is posted below.

Lady Gaga will be on American Idol

Lady Gaga will appear on the May 5 episode of “American Idol.”

The pop singer made the announcement on her Twitter page.  She said “See you on American Idol. May 5th, Little Monsters.”

This will be Gaga’s second appearance on the talent show.  Last year, she performed her hit song “Poker Face” on the show.

Akon says Christina Aguilera is insecure about Lady Gaga’s success

(AP photo)

Hip hop star Akon is the latest celebrity to offer his opinion regarding the comparisons between Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera.

Many people have often compared the two singers to each other during the past year.

In an interview with Vibe magazine, Akon suggested Christina is insecure about Lady Gaga’s success.

“That’s not even any competition.  You are actually giving Christina too much credit. She always had her cool little look and way about how she went about things. But soon as Gaga came out everything switched up. Christina stepped out of her own shell to become something different. And the crazy thing is Christina is really talented. She has unlimited range when it comes to singing. Her voice is out of here. I just think she just needs to believe in herself more. I think sometimes she gets insecure because of all of the success Gaga has had not realizing that she was already successful before Gaga came out.”

DISCLAIMER: It should be noted Gaga is signed to Akon’s record label, so his opinion might be a little bias.

When two singers are talented its common for the public and the record companies to make comparisons and create a competition.

For example: In the 1980s, it was Michael Jackson vs. Prince. In the 1990s, it was Whitney Houston vs. Mariah Carey,  Notorious B.I.G. vs. Tupac Shakur and Brandy vs. Monica.  In the 2000s, it was Backstreet Boys vs. N’Sync and Britney Spears vs. Christina Aguilera.

Now, I guess it’s Christina vs. Gaga.  Lady Gaga has dominated the music charts during the past year or so.  Christina’s album “Bionic” will be in stores June 8.

Songwriter defends Christina Aguilera against Lady Gaga comparisons

Several music critics and bloggers (myself included) have been making comparisons between pop singers Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga.

When I posted a blog comparing the two singers, many readers were irritated because I questioned whether Christina can keep up with Lady Gaga.  (Click here to read what I said, and what the readers said).

Apparently, Christina’s songwriter is fed up with everyone comparing Christina and Lady Gaga. In an interview with Vibe magazine, songwriter Claude Kelly said:

“That’s crap to me…it’s really bull****.  Christina Aguilera has been around for over 10 years now. As far as pop goes, she is the defining voice of today’s music. She can do things with her voice that I haven’t heard anybody else do. She’s constantly reinventing herself. As fans, as soon as an album is done and an artist disappears for a while, we tend to write them off as over or no longer relevant.”

“In the time that she has been gone, Gaga, who I know pretty well, has had an unbelievable run. Christina has an album that’s going to slap people in the face. The music still has her signature, big note vocals and emotions, but the sound is definitely more aggressive, more futuristic than the last album.”

Christina’s new album “Bionic” will be in stores June 8.

Donny Osmond critical of Lady Gaga, Beyonce video

Donny Osmond is the latest celebrity who has been critical of Lady Gaga’s and Beyonce’s music video for “Telephone.”

On his radio show, Osmond said

“I’m all for freedom of speech and against any form of censorship, but all I know is that I’m a parent and I’m upset about this.  I wouldn’t want my child to watch this video. Would you? What do you think? Should these two extremely gifted female role models for millions of young girls, maybe, have given a little more thought to the effect it might have on their core audience?”

The music video shows Lady Gaga wearing scantily clad clothes, and she kisses a woman while she’s locked up in jail.  It also shows Lady Gaga and Beyonce killing customers at a diner by putting poison in their food.

If Osmond doesn’t want his children to watch the video, then don’t let them watch it.  Just like if people don’t want their children to watch the violence in horror movies or soft-core porn on Cinemax, then don’t let them watch it. It’s as simple as that.  No need to raise a big fuss over it.

Earlier this week, R&B singer India Arie also criticized the video.  Click the link to see Arie’s comments.

Do you think the music video is inappropriate? Answer the poll question below.

Millions of fans around the world loved the new Lady Gaga and Beyonce music video titled “Telephone.”  But R&B singer India Arie is no fan of the video

Arie posted a series of tweets on her Twitter page, and she was critical of the music video because it had questionable content.  Her tweets are posted below.

For someone who doesn’t like the video, she sure did spend a lot of time talking about the video.

“Don’t be offended this is all MY opinion… Am I the only one who thinks the “Telephone” video is going a bit too far?

“I’m not referring to the abstract nature of the video … I’m talking about the IMAGERY – the unspoken back story, the language the message.”

“I agree gaga is being her image .. I dig her creative mind But still … There’s a such thing as socially irresponsible… I’m just sayin.”

“Its not long before somebody does a straight NAKED video. Not like Alanis morrisette “thank you india” like NAKED dancing around. LOL hahaha”

“Let’s be CLEAR! I know it gaga M.O. – I don’t live under a rock. And I get that a lot of work put into it. I’m talking social responsibility.”

“There’s an artist ever 10 years who pushes the envelope … but its bout to fall off the Table. When is it too far?”

“I respect the creative mind but disagree with the “choices” as a dish meant to be served for mass consumption”

“Crazy to me that the Dark, underbelly, so shock at all cost thing is a TREND like asymetrical hair and big shoulder jackets .Slippery slope!”

Reverend said Lady Gaga is a whore, and she’s going to hell

(AP Photo/Axel Heimken)

Lady Gaga (AP Photo/Axel Heimken)

The Rev. Fred Phelps is the reason some people avoid going to church.

Rev. Phelps (who claims to be a man of God) recently released a press statement in which he condems flamboyant pop singer Lady Gaga .  He also called her a whore.  Yes, a “man of God” called someone a whore.  He also said she’s going to hell.

Phelps released the statement on his Web site.  He said

“Thou hadst a whore’s forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed…Will He reserve HIs anger forever? Will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.” Jer 3:3,5

“Art” and “fashion” are the euphemisms, the guise under which proud whore Lady Gaga teaches rebellion against God (incidentally, her claim to the title of “lady” is sound only if she tacks on “of the night,” thereby alluding to another euphemism of what she is.) As much as she’d like to pretend otherwise, there’s nothing new or different about this particular hussy’s pretentious prancing. Does the simple slut truly think that she can change God’s standards by seducing a generation of rebels into joining her in fist-raised, stiff-necked, hard-hearted rebellion against Him? Get real!”

“Even as she gives lip-service to “liberating” her young fans, Lady Gaga brings them into slavery to their own corruption, teaching them to glory in their shame. She hates you! “For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness…While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption!” 2 Pet. 2:18-19. YOU’RE GOING TO HELL.”

Kid Cudi dropped from Lady Gaga tour

Hip hop newcomer Kid Cudi has been kicked off Lady Gaga’s tour.

He will be replaced by singer Jason Derulo.  Kid Cudi released a statement saying scheduling conflicts will prevent him from being on the tour.

However, I’m going to assume it probably has something to do with a certain video clip that has been circulating around YouTube.

The clip shows Kid Cudi punching a fan in Vancouver during one of his concerts A man in the audience threw his wallet on stage, and Kid Cudi went into the audience and hit him.

Lady Gaga probably doesn’t want any of that drama on her tour.

50 Cent clarifies comments about “gay tour”

50 Cent

Hip hop star 50 Cent clarified comments he made regarding Kanye West’s and Lady Gaga’s tour (which is now cancelled).

During an interview with hostess Angie Martinez on the Hot 97 radio station in New York, 50 Cent said Kanye is “cool with the gay folk.  I have nothing against them, but he’s cool with them. He goes, drops his video off to them.  Remember 808s & Heartbreak? Where’d he premiere it? The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He went there to premiere his video. He’s conscious of the gay community and wants them to buy his CDs.”

Some members of the gay community were upset that 50 Cent tried to make fun of Kanye’s connection to gay people. So, 50 Cent later released a statement on his Web site to clarify his comments.

The statement says “During an interview with Angie Martinez yesterday, certain comments I made were taken entirely out of context. When I referred to the Lady Gaga tour as ‘the gay tour,’ I was basically repeating what I thought she had referred to the tour in the past.  It was not my intention to offend anyone. I don’t have a problem with anyone’s lifestyle and have no issue with Lady Gaga. She makes great music.”

Kanye West cancels concert tour

Kanye WestThe “Fame Kills” concerts have died before they were officially alive.

Kanye West dropped out of his joint ”Fame Kills” tour with Lady Gaga.

Kanye and Gaga were expected to embark on a three-month tour together beginning in November.

The reason for Kanye’s cancellation is unknown, but I think it’s safe to assume the negative publicity surrounding Kanye after the MTV Video Music Awards incident had something to do with it.

Lady Gaga will tour without Kanye beginning next month in the same scheduled cities, but the dates will change.

Jay-Z discusses Kanye West, Taylor Swift incident

Jay-Z is breaking his silence regarding his friend Kanye West’s outburst during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech during the MTV Video Music Awards.

In an interview with BBC Radio, Jay-Z said Kanye has always been passionate, but he was still rude to Taylor.

Excerpts from the interview are posted below.

Jay-Z“He’s just a super-passionate person, and of course it was rude because it was Swift’s moment, but that’s the way he really felt. But he’s been that passionate from his first record.”

“He used to jump on tables. I was trying to make the first Blueprint, he’s jumping on tables, rapping, and I’m like, ‘Yo, not now.’ That was just him. He’s always been that passionate.”

“I told him I think it was rude, and that he has to watch his passion. At the end of the day, we’re going to celebrate him for his passion more than vilify him for it because his passion, which caused him to make Graduation and all these great records, is the same thing that causes him to step out of line sometimes. So as he grows, he has to learn how to balance that. And he’ll learn that in years to come. That passion right there, that wasn’t fake or staged.  It was how he really felt, and it was just inappropriate. It wasn’t fair to Taylor.”

“I mean, it’s an awards show, really, and I think it’s a bit blown out.  He’s on the cover of every paper, he didn’t kill anybody. Nobody got harmed.  I don’t think he should lay low, I think he should go on tour and have a brilliant career. It’s an awards show.”

I agree with Jay-Z in paragraph above. Yes, it was rude and disrespecful, but no one was killed or physically harmed.  He didn’t beat up anyone like Chris Brown did.

But, hopefully Kanye will listen to Jay-Z and learn to control his “passion.”

Meanwhile, Kanye is preparing to go on tour this fall and winter with pop singer Lady Gaga.  The tour kicks off Nov. 10 in Phoenix.  Click here for a list of the tour dates.

Kanye West is going on tour later this year, and his tour dates have been announced.  His opening act will be eccentric pop star Lady Gaga.

I know everyone is angry with Kanye because of his behavior at the MTV Video Music Awards, but I’m sure he will put on a good show, especially with Lady Gaga on tour with him.
