Celine Dion was never pregnant

Pop singer Celine Dion announced she was pregnant a few months ago, but it has now been determined she never was pregnant. It was a misdiagnosis.
Her husbandRene Angelil told the Journal de Montreal newspaper, “We are living the reality of the majority of couples who have to use IVF. The process can be long and arduous. But today, we are full of confidence. Celine is more determined than ever.”
Dion and Angelil’s first child (Rene Charles) was born in 2001. Despite this latest failed effort, the couple will try to have another child again.
I’m not certain how a doctor could misdiagnose a pregnancy, but they probably discovered the error when they noticed she wasn’t gaining weight after three months.

Shaq’s wife files for separation

The wife of Shaquille O’Neal filed for legal separation from the NBA superstar.
In the court papers, Va’shaundya O’Neal(also known as Shaunie) cited irreconilable differences.
The O’Neal couple have been married for seven years, and they share four children together.
In 2003, their marriage was put in the spotlight when Shaq’s former teammate Kobe Bryant told police Shaq cheats on his wife.
Bryant made those comments when investigators questioned him during the rape allegations against Bryant in Colorado.
Bryant told police O’Neal has affairs and“Shaq would pay his women not to say anything.”
Since Bryant snitched, it has been reported the O’Neal’s marriage has been on the rocks ever since.
In 2007, they filed for divorce, but they later reconciled.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has leukemia

NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar announced he was diagnosed with leukemia.
I had the privilege of meeting him several years ago, and he seemed like a genuine person. The outcome for a leukemia patient is usually gloomy, but I hope he pulls through.
The Associated Press story is posted below via NewsOK.
BY BEN WALKER OF THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is being treated for a rare form of leukemia, and the basketball great said his prognosis is encouraging.
The NBA’s all-time leading scorer was diagnosed last December with chronic myeloid leukemia, he told The Associated Press on Monday.

The 62-year-old Abdul-Jabbar said his doctor didn’t give any guarantees, but informed him: “You have a very good chance to live your life out and not have to make any drastic changes to your lifestyle.”
Abdul-Jabbar is taking an oral medication for the disease. He is a paid spokesman for the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis, which makes a drug that treats the illness.
Citing the way Los Angeles Lakers teammate Magic Johnson brought awareness to HIV, Abdul-Jabbar said he wants to do the same for his form of blood cancer, which can be fatal if left untreated.
“I’ve never been a person to share my private life. But I can help save lives,” he said at a midtown Manhattan conference room. “It’s incumbent on someone like me to talk about this.”
Abdul-Jabbar became concerned last year after feeling odd sensations. He went for tests at UCLA, where he dominated college basketball in the late 1960s, winning three straight NCAA championships from 1967-69.
“I was getting hot flashes and sweats on a regular basis,” he said. “That’s not normal, even for my age.”
An exam showed his white blood cell count was “sky high” and a doctor quickly diagnosed his condition. At first, all Abdul-Jabbar heard was the word “leukemia.”
“I was scared,” he said. “I thought it was all the same. I thought it could mean I have a month to live.”
“That was my first question,” he said. “Was I going to make it?”
A longtime student in martial arts, Abdul-Jabbar said he took the approach of a samurai, to face death without fear.
“I had my face on,” he said.
Instead, doctors told him CML was treatable with proper medication and monitoring.
Abdul-Jabbar is a special assistant with the Lakers and said he hasn’t had to cut back his level of activity of coaching, change his regimen or adjust his diet. “I’m able to sneak out for Thai food,” he said.
“There is hope. This condition can be treated. You can still live a productive, full life,” he said. “I’m living proof I can make it.”
Abdul-Jabbar recently returned from an academic conference in Abu Dhabi and has several speaking engagements planned. Among the people he regularly talks to about his condition is his son, a third-year medical student at the University of California, San Francisco.
The six-time NBA MVP intends to post updates to his Facebook and Twitter accounts and stay connected through www.CMLearth.com, a Web site for those afflicted by the disease.
About 5,000 cases of CML are expected to be diagnosed in the United States this year, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society said. More than 22,000 people are living in the US with the disease.
The disease tends to initially be diagnosed by people in their mid-to-late 60s, and usually affects men more than women.
“I want to spread the word,” Abdul-Jabbar said.
Abuse was not Rihanna’s fault

R&B singers Rihanna and Chris Brown recently appeared on television interviews to discuss the fight that occurred between them.
I’m referring to the fight in February that left Rihanna’s face bloodied and bruised while Brown received probation and a community service sentence.
Rihanna appeared on “Good Morning America” and “20/20″ to discuss the altercation, and Brown was on MTV apologizing for his actions.
Meanwhile, members of Brown’s camp, including his friends and dancers have been using their Twitter pages to insinuate Rihanna is lying.
His backup dancer posted the following tweet: “I wish dancers can speak about things that really go on. I can not believe this. Let me just say Chris Brown was pushed to the extreme. Her people made her do this interview for two reasons–album sales and to try an kill Chris’ career.”
I’ve written numerous blog posts about the Brown and Rihanna incident, and I have been disturbed by the number of emails and comments I’ve received from readers who tell me “Rihanna deserved to be beaten up,” or ”It was Rihanna’s fault” or ”Rihanna brought it on herself.”
Before you make those types of statements, think about this. What if your mother was bloodied and beaten by her boyfriend? Would you say your mother deserved it?… What if your sister was bloodied and beaten up by her boyfriend? Would you say your sister deserved it?
Placing the blame on Rihanna is not productive. It’s not the victim’s fault. No one deserves to be beaten in that manner.
We’ve all seen the photos that were leaked to the press that show Rihanna’s face battered, bloodied and swollen. She didn’t deserve that, and she is not to blame.
Brown has apologized for his behavior, and he was given his punishment by the court. Is he sincere? Only God and Brown know the answer to that question.
Comedian accused of stealing jewelry

We all know the economic downturn has affected many professions, including newspaper organizations and car manufacturers.
I guess the gloomy economy is also affecting the stand-up comedy industry–especially when comedians begin stealing.
Comedian Katt Williams was arrested on a burglary and trespassing complaint Sunday near Atlanta, according to the Associated Press. He was accused of breaking into some one’s home and stealing $3,555 worth of jewelry and collectible coins.
The home belonged to the music producer Barry Hankerson. Hankerson is the ex-husband of Gladys Knight and the uncle of the late R&B singer Aaliyah.
Williams denied the accusations, and he told the judge it was “a misunderstanding between me and two stupid detectives,” according to the Associated Press.
He also said he was staying at Hankerson’s home because he was filming a movie about President Obama.
I know Williams wasn’t a billionaire by any means, but I assumed he was making enough money where he wouldn’t have to steal anyone.
He’s appeared in numerous movies and television shows, including, “Norbit,” “First Sunday,” “Girlfriends,” “My Wife and Kids,” “Friday After Next” and “NYPD Blue,” among others.

Singer/actress Jennifer Lopez is trying to stop her ex-husband from kissing and telling.
Lopez filed a $10 million lawsuit against ex-husband Ojani Noa for violating a confidentiality agreement the former couple had.
Noa is preparing to release a film titled “How I Married Jennifer Lopez: The J. Lo and Ojani Noa Story.” According to TMZ, the movie will feature 11 hours footage that shows Lopez and Noa as husband and wife. The footage also shows Lopez in sexual situations during the honeymoon.
Lopez filed legal papers against Noa, accusing him of invasion of privacy and breach of contract. Lopez and Noa married in 1997, and they divorced in 1998.
If Lopez is successful at prevent the tape’s release, that won’t stop it from leaking to the Internet somehow.

R&B singer Toni Braxton and Keri Lewis are separating from each other, according to Essence magazine.
The couple married in 2001, and they have two children together. Since they are only seperating and not filing for a divorce yet, there is a chance this couple could reconcile.
Braxton lit up the blogosphere when she passionately kissed R&B singer Trey Songz during a taping of the Soul Train Music Awards earlier this week. The show and the kiss will air Nov. 29.
Meanwhile Braxton’s new album will be in stores early next year. Lewis was a member of the R&B group Mint Condition, but he left the group to become a music producer.

David Letterman scandal inspires “Law & Order” episode

(AP Photo/CBS)
David Letterman’s sexual escapades with his female staffers were embarrassing for the late night show host when the incidents became public.
But the scandal gave writers of a television drama some new material.
According to “Access Hollywood,” Letterman’s situation inspired “Law & Order” writers to create an episode in which a married talk show host is blackmailed for having affairs.
The host was blackmailed as part of a $3 million extortion plot.
The difference is the talk show host is female, unlike Letterman. Can’t wait to see this episode.
