Dr. Dre sues Death Row Records

We all remember “The Chronic” album by Dr. Dre in the early 1990s.

That album introduced me to rap music at age 12, and I’ve been a fan of hip hop ever since.

The album gave us rap classics such as “Nuthin’ But A G Thing,” ‘Dre Day” and “Let Me Ride.”

The lyrics were so explicit, I had to sneak and listen to them because my parents wouldn’t let me hear offensive language.

But Dr. Dre claims he hasn’t seen any royalties from the album in more than a decade.

Dr. Dre filed a lawsuit against Death Row Records claiming he hasn’t been paid royalties since 1996.

He is seeking at least $75,000 minimum, which is probably chump change compared to what he really should receive.

Fans have been impatiently waiting for the past decade for rapper/producer Dr. Dre to release his new “Detox” CD. (myself included)

After working on the CD for 10 years, Dr. Dre told ABC News the CD will be in stores sometime in 2010.

The CD has been delayed several times during the past decade.

Dr. Dre has produced songs for numerous musicians including Eminem, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent and Gwen Stefani.

His last CD titled “2001″ was released in 1999 and featured the hit songs “Forgot About Dre,” “Still D.R.E.” and “The Next Episode.”

Everyone in the hip hop community has been wondering when Dr. Dre is going to return to the microphone.

In an interview with USA Today, the hip hop producer and rappers said his new CD could possible be released later this year. For the CD, Dre has recorded tracks with Lil Wayne, Nas, 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg.

Can’t wait to hear this one.
