Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy broke up
Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy are a couple no more. McCarthy announced she has split with Carrey after five years of being girlfriend and boyfriend.
McCarthy released a statement that said:
“I’m so grateful for the years Jim and I shared together. I will continue to be in his daughter’s life and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart.”
Meanwhile Carrey announced the split on his Twitter page. He said:
“I’m grateful 4 the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best! S’okay!”
To me, this celebrity couple (along with Will Smith and Jada) was the only Hollywood couple that I thought would stand the test of time.
Carrey and McCarthy seemed like they were meant for each other.

Tyler Perry impresses with “Why Did I Get Married Too?”
I’m usually not a fan of film director Tyler Perry’s movies. Besides the occasional funny line from his Madea character, I think his movies are typically boring and low budget.
However, my opinion of Perry changed last weekend after I saw his latest film “Why Did I Get Married Too?”
The film is about eight married friends who go on an annual vacation to socialize with one another and to analyze their marriages.
The characters deal with physical cheating, emotional cheating, lack of communication, lack of trust, lack of a prenuptial agreement, illness, unemployment, insecurities, divorce, substance abuse and death.
While dealing with those issues, the characters struggle to keep their relationships in tact. Perry intertwines comedy, drama and suspense into this two-hour film.
If you’re not a Perry fan, I recommend you see the movie this weekend. It will change your mind, like it did with me. This movie is now in the top five best movies I’ve seen during the past year.
This might sound cliche, but the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, and the storyline was unpredictable. You didn’t know what was going to happen from scene to scene.
The film stars Perry, Janet Jackson, Malik Yoba, Jill Scott, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Sharon Leal, Louis Gossett Jr. and Cicely Tyson.
Jackson’s performance surprised me. Her acting skills have improved greatly since her “Poetic Justice” days in 1993. After watching her performance, I now consider Jackson a real actress.

Janet Jackson and Tyler Perry on Oprah, discusses new movie, Michael’s death
Singer/actress Janet Jackson and film director Tyler Perry were guests on Friday’s episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”
Jackson and Perry discussed their new movie “Why Did I Get Married Too,” and Jackson discussed the death of her brother Michael and the interventions they had with him.
Excerpts from the interview are posted below.
“I got a call from an assistant. She had said that there was something on TV about my brother being ill. So I immediately called home, and I was able to reach my sister La Toya, my nephew, Austin, and I think my brother, Jermaine, at the time. They were on their way to the hospital. I can’t remember exactly who I wound up calling back, to see how things were going. That’s when they told me he had passed.”"It’s hard for me to look at an image of his or listen to his music on the radio.”
“There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about him. All of us in the family think about him every single day. The last time I saw him, which was two days before my birthday at my parents’ surprise party, I was being silly like I always did when we were kids, and he kept looking at me and just cracking up.”
“We knew that he had a problem. We all did. I think a lot of people think that we were in denial, which we weren’t at all. We tried interventions several times. He was very much still in denial.”
(from Tyler Perry) “I wouldn’t dare say anything more than she would want me to, but they really, really tried. The entire family. I want the whole world to know how much they tried. There were all those reports that they didn’t do anything. That’s not true.”

MLB player Denard Span hits mother in chest
Major League Baseball player Denard Span hit the woman who carried him for nine months. Yes, he hit his own mother.
But it was by accident though. During a training game, the Minnesota Twins outfielder hit a foul ball into the stands, and the ball just happened to strike his mother in the chest.
His mom received brief medical attention, but she wasn’t seriously injured, and she later returned to the stands.
When Denard returned to the plate, he struck out. He was probably shaken up and afraid he might hit someone else. A video clip is posted below.
During an interview with USA Today, Span said
“It’s just a bad situation,” Span said. “It’s just surprising that no one has gotten seriously hurt to this point. I definitely do think that they should have nets going further, you know, as far as the dugout.”

Can Christina Aguilera keep up with Lady Gaga?
Pop singer Christina Aguilera has come out of hiding and released a new song.
The new song titled “Not Myself Tonight” was released on her Web site and some radio stations added it their rotation shortly afterward.
The song is okay, but it’s definitely not going to be a number one hit. It’s not as catchy as other songs that are on the radio.
Aguilera is a talented singer with strong vocal ability. No one doubts her talent. Aguilera has been away from the music scene for a while because she took some time off to give birth to her child and to experience motherhood.
But while she was away, some major things happened in the music industry.
A hurricane by the name of Lady Gaga swooped in to dominate the music scene during the past year-and-a-half.
Gaga also has a good voice, but she stands out because of her edginess, her wild wardrobe and her ability to push the envelope like she did with her controversial video titled “Telephone.”
If Aguilera wants to return to the top, she has to come with something stronger than “Not Myself Tonight.”
She also needs to do something to make herself stand out. Otherwise, the spotlight will continue to be on Gaga and Aguilera will fade into the background.
Aguilera’s new song is posted below. Her new album titled “Bionic” will be in stores June 8.

Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg to star together in Tyler Perry movie
Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey might be rivals on the music charts, but they will soon be co-stars in director Tyler Perry’s next movie.
Perry announced the cast for his upcoming film titled “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.”
Yes, the title is lengthy.
The film will star Jackson, Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kerry Washington, Kimberly Elise and Loretta Divine.
Perry told MTV the movie will be released in late 2010 or early 2011.
The movie is based on a 1975 play that deals with rape, abandonment and abortion.
With the list of high-profile names attached to this film, it will probably do well at the box office.

LL Cool J dropped from Sarah Palin’s tv show after he complains
By Frazier Moore, Associated Press writer via NewsOK.
An upcoming Fox News Channel special hosted by Sarah Palin is titled “Real American Stories.” But rapper-actor LL Cool J says his participation in the show was bogus.
In response, the network has snipped him from the program.
In a Twitter posting late Tuesday, the entertainer wrote that “Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palins Show. WOW.”
Fox News says the episode, which was not available for preview, will feature a Marine Medal of Honor recipient “who gave his life to save his comrades” and a wealthy stockbroker who helps underprivileged students pay for college.
Also listed as part of the show are country singer Toby Keith and former General Electric boss Jack Welch, as well as LL Cool J, who appeared among a number of video clips on the “Real American Stories” Web site Wednesday morning before being removed.
“Contrary to what was reported, LL Cool J was never scheduled to be a guest on ‘Real American Stories’ with Sarah Palin this week,” Rhett Usry, the artist’s spokesman, said in a statement on Wednesday. “The show had planned to use an interview from 2008 that was being repurposed without LL’s permission.
“This statement is not a reflection of any feelings LL has toward Fox News or Ms. Palin, whom he has never met, rather a clarification of what we have seen published in the media.”
Fox News Channel did not respond to numerous calls and e-mails from The Associated Press inquiring about the status of the segment with LL Cool J, who was born James Todd Smith.
But in a statement released to other media outlets, the network said: “‘Real American Stories’ features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith’s interview fits that criteria. However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.”
Credits for the 42-year-old actor include a starring role in the hit CBS freshman series “NCIS: Los Angeles,” as well as several films such as “Last Holiday” and “S.W.A.T.”
It is unclear when or if future editions of “Real American Stories” will appear on Fox News. Thursday’s airing pre-empts “On the Record With Greta Van Susteren.”
Palin’s ongoing relationship with Fox News Channel as a host and news analyst accounts for only part of her television activities. Last week, the TLC cable network announced “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” an eight-part series about Palin’s home state that is set to start production this summer.
