Country singer Chely Wright has set a record for the history books. 

But not for her ability to sing.  It has to do with her sexual orientation.  In an upcoming issue of People magazine, Wright revealed that she is a lesbian.

Wright is one of the first country singers in history to come out of the closet.  She told People magazine why she chose to keep her sexuality a secret. 

“There had never, ever been a country music artist who had acknowledged his or her homosexuality.  I wasn’t going to be the first.”

The interview with People magazine will be on newsstands May 7.  She will also be on “Today Show” on May 5, and she is releasing a book titled “Like Me: Confessions of a Heartland Country Singer.”

Wright has released seven studio albums throughout her career.  Her latest album titled ”Lifted off the Ground” was released May 4.  Her debut album “Woman on the Moon” came out in 1994. 

In 1995, she won Best New Female Vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards. Her hit songs include “Single White Female,” “Never Love You Enough” and “Jezebel.”

But there were some notable (non-politican) celebrities in the audience as well.  They included Kim Kardashian, Jessica Simpson, Michelle Pheiffer, Chelsea Handler, Dennis Quaid, Justin Bieber, Jonas Brothers, Tracy Morgan and Jon Bon Jovi.

I’m still trying to figure out how Kim Kardashian made it on the guest list.

Holmes is set to portray former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in a new television movie about the Kennedy family. 

The eight-hour mini series titled “The Kennedys” will premiere sometime in 2011 on the History Channel. 

Greg Kinnear will star as John F. Kennedy, Barry Pepper will portray Robert Kennedy and Tom Wilkinson will play Joe Kennedy Sr.

Since her union with Cruise, the only attention Holmes receives is related to her marriage and the upbringing of her daughter Suri.

Some people probably forgot she used to be a popular actress. 

This movie is a good career move on Holmes’ part because it will focus attention on whether she accurately portrayed Jackie O, instead of the usual tabloid stories about her marriage.

“Saturday Night Live” makes strange bed fellows.

Legendary actress Betty White and hip hop mogul Jay-Z will be the featured guests on the May 8 episode of “SNL” on NBC.

White, 88, will host the show, and Jay-Z will be the musical guest. 

During a press conference, White told reporters “I’m thrilled to meet him. I’m thrilled to hear he’s going to be on the show because he’s the hottest thing since sliced bread.”

White’s appearance on the sketch comedy show stems from a Facebook campaign where fans petitioned to have the “Golden Girls” actress appear on “Saturday Night Live” for the first time.

A group of soldiers put together a home video spoof of Lady Gaga’s music video for “Telephone.”  The spoof is becoming a hit all over the Internet, and it’s been featured on television news programs as well.

Actress Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry broke up, according to TMZ. 

The celebrity web site also claims the pair sought attorneys three weeks ago to help them work out a custody agreement involving their 2-year-old daughter Nahla Ariela Aubry. 

Berry, 43,  and Gabriel, 34,  have been together since late 2005.

I’m a big guy. There’s not too many people who can intimidate me. There is only one person on the planet who makes me deathly afraid.

That person is supermodel Naomi Campbell. During an interview with ABC News, Naomi became angry because the journalist asked a question she didn’t like.

In retaliation, Campbell punched the camera the photographer was holding, and she stormed out of the room.

Last month, she was accused of hitting her male driver in the back and neck which caused his face to hit the steering wheel and left a bruise under his eye.

In 2006, she pleaded guilty to assaulting her housekeeper with a cell phone by hitting her in the head.

In 2003, an assistant accused Campbell of throwing a cell phone at her and throwing her on the couch during a fit of rage.

In 2000, she pleaded guilty to assaulting another assistant while filming a movie.

Now do you understand why I’m afraid of her? She doesn’t discriminate. She beats up everyone, regardless of gender and size.

I usually don’t support the “blame-the-victim” strategy. But at this point, people should be smart enough to avoid Campbell because of her track record.

I would never work for O.J. Simpson because he might stab me. I would never work for Mike Tyson because he might bite my ear like he did Evander Holyfield. I would never work for Robert Blake because I might get shot.

Unlike her employees, I’m also smart enough to avoid working for Campbell because I don’t want my head smashed with a cell phone.

If you choose to work for Campbell, that’s your fault if she damages your body parts.
