Ricky Martin is gay, he announced on his Web site

This should come as no surprise to anyone, but pop singer Ricky Martin announced he is gay.  Martin made the announcement on his Web site in preparation for his upcoming biography.

I’m not sure why he decided to make such a public announcement. There was no need to because everyone already knew.

On his Web site, Martin released the following statement.

“A few months ago I decided to write my memoirs, a project I knew was going to bring me closer to an amazing turning point in my life. From the moment I wrote the first phrase I was sure the book was the tool that was going to help me free myself from things I was carrying within me for a long time. Things that were too heavy for me to keep inside. Writing this account of my life, I got very close to my truth. And this is something worth celebrating.

For many years, there has been only one place where I am in touch with my emotions fearlessly and that’s the stage. Being on stage fills my soul in many ways, almost completely. It’s my vice. The music, the lights and the roar of the audience are elements that make me feel capable of anything. This rush of adrenaline is incredibly addictive. I don’t ever want to stop feeling these emotions. But it is serenity that brings me to where I’m at right now. An amazing emotional place of comprehension, reflection and enlightenment. At this moment I’m feeling the same freedom I usually feel only on stage, without a doubt, I need to share.

Many people told me: “Ricky it’s not important”, “it’s not worth it”, “all the years you’ve worked and everything you’ve built will collapse”, “many people in the world are not ready to accept your truth, your reality, your nature”. Because all this advice came from people who I love dearly, I decided to move on with my life not sharing with the world my entire truth. Allowing myself to be seduced by fear and insecurity became a self-fulfilling prophecy of sabotage. Today I take full responsibility for my decisions and my actions.

If someone asked me today, “Ricky, what are you afraid of?” I would answer “the blood that runs through the streets of countries at war…child slavery, terrorism…the cynicism of some people in positions of power, the misinterpretation of faith.” But fear of my truth? Not at all! On the contrary, It fills me with strength and courage.

This is just what I need especially now that I am the father of two beautiful boys that are so full of light and who with their outlook teach me new things every day. To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids where born with. Enough is enough. This has to change. This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment.

These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn’t even know existed.

What will happen from now on? It doesn’t matter. I can only focus on what’s happening to me in this moment. The word “happiness” takes on a new meaning for me as of today. It has been a very intense process. Every word that I write in this letter is born out of love, acceptance, detachment and real contentment. Writing this is a solid step towards my inner peace and vital part of my evolution.

I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.”

Reader comment: Sex will backfire on Lady Gaga

“I love to have fun… trust me – I love sex – but fun and sex have backfired on me.. and they will on Lady GAGA someday too.”

Tim McGraw, Dwight Yoakam, William H. Macy to star in “Dirty Girl” movie

Country singer Tim McGraw is used to starring  alongside seasoned actors in films.

He played Sandra Bullock’s husband in “The Blind Side,” he played Vince Vaughn’s brother in “Four Christmases” and he played with Billy Bob Thornton in “Friday Night Lights.”

Now, McGraw is adding William H. Macy, Milla Jovovich and Mary Steenburgen to his list of co-stars.

The four actors/actress will star in the upcoming film “Dirty Girl,” according to Variety.

The film is about an Oklahoma teenage girl named Danielle.

“When Danielle’s misbehavior gets her banished to special ed, she teams up with an innocent closet-case and together they head out on a road trip to discover each other and themselves through a funny and serendipitous friendship,” according to Internet Movie Database.

The film also stars Juno Temple, Nicholas D’Agosto and country singer/actor Dwight Yoakam.  It will be released in 2011.

Donny Osmond critical of Lady Gaga, Beyonce video

Donny Osmond is the latest celebrity who has been critical of Lady Gaga’s and Beyonce’s music video for “Telephone.”

On his radio show, Osmond said

“I’m all for freedom of speech and against any form of censorship, but all I know is that I’m a parent and I’m upset about this.  I wouldn’t want my child to watch this video. Would you? What do you think? Should these two extremely gifted female role models for millions of young girls, maybe, have given a little more thought to the effect it might have on their core audience?”

The music video shows Lady Gaga wearing scantily clad clothes, and she kisses a woman while she’s locked up in jail.  It also shows Lady Gaga and Beyonce killing customers at a diner by putting poison in their food.

If Osmond doesn’t want his children to watch the video, then don’t let them watch it.  Just like if people don’t want their children to watch the violence in horror movies or soft-core porn on Cinemax, then don’t let them watch it. It’s as simple as that.  No need to raise a big fuss over it.

Earlier this week, R&B singer India Arie also criticized the video.  Click the link to see Arie’s comments.

Do you think the music video is inappropriate? Answer the poll question below.

Another woman claims affair with Sandra Bullock’s husband Jesse James

AP Photo/Peter

The Jesse James scandal continues to cause Sandra Bullock embarrassment.

A third and fourth mistress are claiming they had an affair with James.

According to TMZ, photographer Brigitte Daguerre said she had sex with James four times since 2008 while he was married to Bullock.

She said she has 195 text messages they sent to each other.

Meanwhile, famous attorney Gloria Allred told Entertainment Tonight she is representing an alleged fourth mistress.  She said

“I represent a beautiful model and business woman. James pursued her and he had strong feelings for her. She is in the process of trying to decide if she will come forward. She has proof of their relationship including hundreds of texts, emails and photos. The relationship just ended recently after the scandal broke.”

If those allegations are true, this would be mistress number three and four for James.

For those who are keeping track, mistress number one was tattoo model Michelle “Bombshell” McGee, and mistress number two is stripper Melissa Smith.

Smith claims she had a two-year affair with James. I’m sure others will be coming forward soon.
