Dick Cheney suffers mild heart attack

(AP Photo/Susan Walsh)
Former Vice President Dick Cheney suffered a mild heart attack, but he’s expected to be released from the hospital within a couple of days.
For those of you keeping track. This is heart attack number five. The Associated Press story is posted below via NewsOK.
ASSOCIATED PRESS
Former Vice President Dick Cheney sustained a “mild heart attack” but is feeling better and likely to leave the hospital within a day or two, an aide said Tuesday.
Cheney, 69, who has remained a forceful advocate for the former Bush administration and a leading Republican figure since leaving office last year, has a history of heart trouble. He was admitted to George Washington University Hospital in Washington on Monday after experiencing chest pains.
Lab tests revealed evidence of a mild heart attack, Cheney aide Peter Long said in a statement. Long reported that Cheney is “feeling good” after undergoing a stress test and a heart catheterization. The latter procedure examines blood flow to the heart and tests how well the heart is pumping.
A heart attack occurs when blood flow to the heart muscle is blocked. The statement from Cheney’s office did not say whether he needed to have an angioplasty, a procedure to clear a blockage.
The heart attack is Cheney’s fifth since age 37.
Cheney had bypass surgery in 1988, as well as two later angioplasties to clear narrowed coronary arteries, and bypasses tend to last about a decade before the rerouted blood vessels start to clog.
In 2001, he had a special pacemaker implanted in his chest. In addition, doctors in 2008 restored a normal rhythm to his heart with an electric shock. It was the second time in less than a year that Cheney had experienced and been treated for an atrial fibrillation, an abnormal rhythm involving the upper chambers of the heart.
The former vice president has kept a high profile since leaving the White House. He has sparred with the Obama administration over plans to close the U.S. detention facility for terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and hold the trials of several high-profile detainees in civilian courts rather than military tribunals.
He made a surprise appearance last week at the Conservative Political Action Conference, where he accompanied his daughter Liz. He was greeted with chants of “Run, Dick, Run,” but said, “I am not going to do it.”
Jennifer Lopez to host SNL

(AP Photo/Peter Kramer)
Singer/actress Jennifer Lopez will put her versatile skills to use this weekend on “Saturday Night Live.”
Lopez will host the show Saturday (Feb. 27) and she will be the musical guest.
Lopez is promoting her new movie titled “The Back-Up Plan” due in theaters April 23.
The film also stars Danneel Harris, Alex O’Loughlin and Eric Christian Olsen.
Bristol Palin to guest star on TV show

During the presidential campaign in 2008, Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol Palin unwillingly became the poster child for teenage pregnancy.
Now, Bristol is trying to expand her horizon in the world of acting. Bristol will appear on an upcoming episode of “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” on ABC, the network announced.
Bristol will portray a friend of Shailene Woodley’s character Amy. Bristol’s character will be Amy’s friend at a music class for teenage mothers.
The episode will air sometime this summer.
Jennifer Lopez leaving record label
Singer/actress Jennifer Lopez is leaving her record label after 11 years. Lopez and Sony Music Group are parting ways.
Her manager Benny Medina released a statement that said
“Jennifer had a wonderful relationship with the Sony Music Group, and they have shared many successes together, but the time was right to make a change that best serves the direction of her career as an actress and recording artist. She is grateful and appreciative to everyone at Sony for all that they accomplished together.”
Lopez is currently in negotiations for a contract with another record company. She has been with Sony since she released her debut album in 1999 titled “On The 6.”
Sarah Palin lashes out at “Family Guy”

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin believes “Family Guy” crossed the line during an episode that aired earlier this month.
In one episode, a character named Chris went on a date with a girl who has Down Syndrome. Chris asks the girl what her parent’s do for a living.
The girl replied “My dad’s an accountant, and my mom is the former governor of Alaska.”
As we all know, Palin is the former governor of Alaska, and she has son who has Down Syndrome. Palin is lashing out at “Family Guy” because she feels the show was mocking her son Trig.
I watched the “Family Guy” clip, and I thought it was distasteful. In the past, I’ve applauded “Family Guy” producers for not shying away from controversy.
No person or topic is off limits when it comes to that show. But using satire to mock a child with Down Syndrome is below the belt.
You can make fun of Palin for being viewed as an unqualified politician or for the fact she recently wrote notes on her hand to help her during a speech. But her infant child should be off limits.
Palin has released statements and been on television shows lashing out at the “Family Guy” episode. Ironicallly, Palin has a job as a political analyist on the Fox News network, and “Family Guy” airs on the Fox television network.
Both networks are owned by Rupert Murdoch. Maybe Palin should complain to Murdoch too since he has some authority over “Family Guy.”

Tiger Woods doesn’t owe apology, CNN contributor says
Pro golfer Tiger Woods made a public statement Friday morning regarding his affairs.
It was the first time he made public comments about the scandal that surrounded him since that infamous car wreck in November that lead to revelations of multiple affairs.
Everyone was weighing in on whether they thought it was a smart idea for Tiger to publicly apologize.
But CNN news contributor Roland Martin summed it up best when he gave his outlook on the Tiger Woods situation.
I happen to agree with Martin’s assessment. Martin’s comment is posted below. If you want to watch Woods’ apology the video clip is posted at the bottom.
“Tiger, you don’t owe me or anyone else anything. I’m sick of these sanctimonious folks who are blabbering about Woods needing to be grilled about his private behavior. Look, Tiger Woods didn’t cheat on me. He’s not my daddy, brother, cousin, church member, neighbor or friend. He didn’t let me down or crush my view of him. He is not and never was my role model. The only people he owes a grand apology are his wife, momma, family, maybe his friends, and his children, when they come of age. He doesn’t have to work hard for me to trust him again. The most important audience he has to satisfy is a very small group of people.”

Gary Coleman gets mad, walks off stage
“Diff’rent Strokes” actor Gary Coleman became visibly upset during a taping of the entertainment news show “The Insider.”
Coleman was so upset, he chose to walk off the stage in the middle of the interview. It all started when attorney and guest panelist Lisa Bloom questioned Coleman about his abusive relationship with his wife.
The interview is posted in the clip below. The panelist provoked Coleman to get a reaction out of him, and Coleman responded by fussing and walking off the stage.
Beyonce’s dad ordered to pay child support
Bad news for Beyonce’s dad Matthew Knowles.
Earlier this week, a judge ordered Knowles to pay $20,750 child support to a woman who claims she gave birth to his child.
The $20,750 is for medical expenses that occurred in January. Knowles must also pay $8,200 a month.
The judge made the ruling even though it hasn’t been determined whether Matthew is the father.
Alexsandra Wright alleges the baby is the result of a year-and-a-half long sexual affair she had with Matthew while he was still married to Beyonce’s mother Tina.
Matthew is due to take a paternity test March 1 to find out if the baby is his. If the test is positive, Matthew will no doubt be paying child support long term.
Beyonce’s mother Tina filed for divorce last year. Matthew has served as Beyonce’s manager throughout her career, and he’s helped her reach superstardom.
Tiger Woods to make statement
Professional golfer Tiger Woods will make a statement to a small group of friends, colleagues and associates Friday (Feb. 17) at the PGA tour headquarters, his agent announced in a news release.
The number of spots available to the media will be limited. Woods is expected to “discuss his past and his future, and he plans to apologize for his behavior,” his agent Mark Steinberg told numerous media outlets.
Also, no one will be allowed to ask him questions.
This will be the first time Woods will speak publicly since that infamous car crash in November that lead to allegations of multiple affairs.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are engaged
After three years of courtship that produced two children, socialite Nicole Richie and Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden will tie the knot.
Richie made the announcement during the Feb. 15 taping of ”The Late Show with David Letterman.” Madden also confirmed the engagement by making an announcement on Twitter.
Madden and Richie started dating in Dec. 2006. Their children are named Harlow and Sparrow.
Why Jay-Z didn’t participate in “We Are The World” remake
After I saw the video premiere of the “We Are The World” remake last week, I wondered to myself why some of the big musicians were missing, such as rapper Jay-Z.
Proceeds from the songs will benefit the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
According to MTV, Jay-Z explains why he chose not to participate in the “We Are The World” remake.
”I know everybody is gonna take this wrong. ‘We Are the World,’ I love it, and I understand the point and think it’s great. But I think ‘We Are the World’ is like ‘Thriller’ to me. I don’t ever wanna see it touched. I’m a fan of music. I know the plight and everything that’s going on in Haiti. I applaud the efforts through text to Haiti. So I appreciate the efforts and everything, but ‘We are the World’ is untouchable like ‘Thriller’ is untouchable. Some things are just untouchable. It was a valiant effort, but for me, it’s gonna be untouchable.”
Other big musicians who were not part of the song included Beyonce, Chris Daughtry, Taylor Swift and Whitney Houston, among others.
I wonder if their reasons were similar to Jay-Z’s or if they weren’t invited altogether.

Will Howard Stern replace Simon on American Idol?
Controversial radio personality Howard Stern confirmed rumors the Fox network is considering him as Simon Cowell’s replacement on “American Idol.”
Cowell is leaving the “American Idol” judge’s panel after this season to focus on another talent show titled “X-Factor.”
On his Sirius radio show, Stern said he’s interested in the job, but they would have to pay him a lot of money if he agreed to take it.
When I first heard about Stern as a possible replacement, I thought Fox executives lost their mind. However, after thinking about it for a few minutes, I don’t think it’s a terrible bad idea.
Cowell is known for making controversial and rude remarks on the talent show, and he shows no mercy when he verbally rips the contestants apart.
The person who replaces Cowell will have to be just as mean. Stern fits that’s description perfectly.
Plus, it would make for good TV to see the battle that would occur between Stern and new judge Ellen DeGeneres, who is known as the nice girl.
Other celebrities I think should be considered as Cowell’s replacement are Kanye West and Rush Limbaugh. Those two are rude and disrespectful just like Cowell.
New Music Video: We Are The World (remake)

When the song “We Are The World” was released in 1985 as a fundraising single, it raised $63 million for humanitarian aid in Africa.

Now, producers remade the original version with new performers, and proceeds will benefit victims of the Haiti earthquake.
The remake also marks the 25th anniversary of the original song. Some of the celebrities who participated in the remake are listed below. Watch the clip below to view the new music video.

Tiger Woods mistress lands tv job
Being known as a mistress of Tiger Woods has its perks.
Rachel Uchitel (aka Mistress Number One) has landed a television job on the entertainment news show “Extra.” Uchitel will be a correspondent for the show.
Uchitel previously worked in a nightclub. She had an affair with the world’s most famous golfer and she was upgraded to an entertainment television reporter position.
That’s a slap in the face to people who spent years going to college and paying their dues trying to land a tv job. Maybe they should have an affair with a golfer instead.
Watch the clip below to see Uchitel interview Jake Pavelka, of “The Bachelor.”
