Louis Gossett diagnosed with cancer

Actor Louis Gossett Jr. announced he is being treated for prostate cancer.
Gossett made the public announcement Tuesday because he wanted to raise awareness encourage others to undergo preventative examinations and other treatment.
Gossett was an Oscar in 1983 for best supporting actor for his role in the film “An Officer and a Gentleman.”
His next role is in the upcoming Tyler Perry film “Why Did I Get Married Too,” which will be in theaters April 1.
