I can relate to LaLa's frustration. Like her, me and my family are from the Latin-Caribbean and although I am a lighter hue from her, I do look a bit more typical "Latin" in appearance, but I do have African ancestry in me and my family and to some folks, they can see it, others not so much--Clearly, it's subjective to each person's perspective. The point is, I am Latina and that is how I am classified in this country--incidentally, my last name is the same as LaLa's, except the spelling is with one z, not 2, as hers (Vasquez). Some people are ignorant to race and culture and they actually believe that if you display the slightest hint of African DNA, you're automatically Black or African American, and nothing more. People need to travel or learn more about the rest of the world--but then again, our national media could certainly aide the average American to help expand their minds by portraying more diversity on TV and in Movies. It's a shame that too many people are kept in the dark!
