Chelsea Clinton, the 29-year old daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, has become engaged to her longtime boyfriend, investment banker Marc Mezvinsky.
The couple sent an e-mail to friends Friday announcing the news. They said they were looking at a possible wedding next summer. Matt McKenna, a spokesman for the former president, confirmed the engagement Monday.
Mezvinsky is a son of former Pennsylvania Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and former Iowa Rep. Ed Mezvinsky, longtime friends of the Clintons. Ed Mezvinsky was released from federal prison last year after pleading guilty in 2002 to charges of bank and wire fraud.
Last summer, Hillary Clinton was forced to tamp down speculation that her daughter and Mezvinsky were already engaged and would marry in August on Martha’s Vineyard. Those rumors proved to be false.
The couple became friends as teenagers in Washington and both attended Stanford University. They now live in New York, where Mezvinsky works at Goldman Sachs and Clinton is attending graduate school at Columbia University’s School of Public Health.
After shunning the public spotlight for years, Chelsea Clinton became a fixture on the campaign trail during her mother’s presidential bid in 2008, visiting colleges and universities around the country.
Usher’s new album postponed

(AP photo)
Fans who were hoping to have R&B singer Usher’s new album in their Christmas stocking this year will be disappointed.
The release of Usher’s album titled “Raymond v. Raymond” has been delayed. The album was scheduled to be released Dec. 21, but Usher’s record company announced it has been postponed until 2010.
An exact release date hasn’t been determined.
Usher’s new song titled “Papers” can be heard on radio stations nation wide. The song lyrics describe his divorce to Tameka Foster Raymond.
Bobby Brown, Kevin Federline to film reality show together

R&B singer Bobby Brown and Kevin Federline are considering a joint reality television show.
Brown told a TMZ photographer “We’re thinking about doing a show, K-Fed and Bobby.” When asked about the show’s details, Brown refused to give any information.
He said “I don’t know. You’ll have to wait and see.”
This should be an interesting show because Brown and Federline have a few similarities.
They are both has-been celebrities, they were both married to pop music superstars (Whitney Houston and Britney Spears) and they both said they were treated unfairly by the media.
Before marrying Houston, Brown dominated the music scene during the 1980s and the early 1990s as part of the boy group New Edition and as a solo artist.
Before marrying Spears, Federline was a dancer for Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Destiny’s Child and Pink.
Brown’s life eventually spiraled out of control when he became entangled in drug, alcohol and domestic abuse.
Federline was a tabloid staple throughout his marriage to Spears, his divorce and the custody battle.
Brown’s and Federline’s reality show will probably center around them trying to make a comeback in the entertainment industry and repair their damaged reputation.
Brown and Federline participated in reality shows in 2005, but it didn’t boost their careers.
Federline and Spears filmed an MTV reality show titled “Chaotic” and Brown and Houston filmed a reality show titled “Being Bobby Brown” on the A&E network in 2005.
Both shows were a disaster. It placed a negative spotlight on the couples, and it fueled more tabloid fodder.
Maybe they will have better luck with this new show.
Chris Brown to appear on 20/20

(AP photo)
We heard Rihanna tell her side of the story on the news program “20/20,” and now it’s Chris Brown’s turn.
Brown will appear on the Dec. 11 episode of “20/20″ on the ABC network. Brown will tell his side of the story regarding the violent incident that took place with Rihanna earlier this year.
Brown previously spoke about the incident on “Larry King Live” and MTV News, but the “20/20″ interview with Robin Roberts is expected to be more in-depth.
The interview will coincide with the release of Brown’s new album titled “Graffiti,” which will be in stores a few days earlier (Dec. 8).

Spokeswoman: No terrorist attack in Bush’s term
Dana Perino, a White House spokeswoman for President Bush, made a bizarre comment on the Fox News Channel.
During an interview with Sean Hannity, Perino was criticizing President Obama for not calling the recent Fort Hood shootings “a terrorist attack.”
During the interview, she tried to praise President Bush by saying “We did NOT have a terrorist attack on our country during President Bush’s term.”
But before she criticizes President Obama and defends her former boss President Bush, she might want to get her facts straight.
We DID get attacked during President Bush’s term. It was the worst terrorist attack in American history. It’s referred to as September 11th. I know it wasn’t Bush’s fault, but it DID happen during his term.
I’m not sure why Perino would say a terrorist attack never happened on Bush’s watch. I hope this was a slip of the tongue.

Day 26 leaves Diddy’s Bad Boy Records

Sean “P. Diddy” Combs lost another musical act.
The R&B group Day 26 announced they are leaving Diddy’s Bad Boy Records to sign with Atlantic Records.
Group members made the announcement in an interview with The Boom Box. Day 26 consist of Brian Andrews, Robert Curry, Willie Taylor, Qwanell Mosley and Michael McCluney.
Diddy signed Day 26 to Bad Boy Records in 2007 after he selected them to form a group on his MTV reality show titled “Making the Band 4.”
Day 26 is the latest in a string of musicians who left Diddy’s record label. Faith Evans, The Lox, Mase, 112, Craig Mack, Da Band, Junior Mafia, Mase, Shyne, Total, Dream, Danity Kane and Loon have already left the record label.
I’m not sure what Diddy is doing to his musicians that make them want to leave his record label, but obviously he needs to take a look at his business practices.
If all of his prominent musicians are leaving the record company, Diddy is apparently doing something wrong.
Diddy is often referred to as a music mogul, but I think it’s difficult to maintain that title when there’s no one left on your record label.
Rihanna discusses nude photo leak

(AP Photo/Evan Agostini)
Several months ago, nude photos of R&B singer Rihanna were leaked online, causing her a mountain of embarrassment.
During an interview with Hot 97 radio host Angie Martinez this week, Rihanna discussed the embarrassing incident.
She said “If you don’t send your boyfriend naked pictures then I feel bad for him. Trust me I was freaked out. That was the worst thing that could possibly ever happen to me.”
“I just feel like my privacy was taken before that and then when that came out I was like Oh great. Now there is nothing they don’t know about my private life. It was humiliating and embarrassing, especially my mom having to see that and it was two days before Mother’s Day.”
I assume her boyfriend was Chris Brown at the time. I’m not sure if Chris was the one who leaked those photos, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

But fear not. I’m back, and the blog posts will continue on a daily basis. I appreciate everyone who reads this blog daily. Thanks for your patience.

Beyonce to release new album in 2010

(AP Photo/Koji Sasahara)
Beyonce recently announced plans for an upcoming album. While performing during a concert in the United Kingdom, Beyonce told the crowd “This is my last show for this tour in the UK, so hopefully, I’ll see you all in a year with a new album,” according to Billboard magazine.
Beyonce’s producer Rodney Jerkins also posted a message on his Twitter page saying he is creating new music for Beyonce’s new album.
I’m a Beyonce fan. No one can deny her talent, but I think it’s time for her to take a break from the public eye. During the past two years, she has released multiple albums, dominated the radio airwaves, appeared in movies, performed on just about every concert stage around the world and appeared on the cover of nearly every magazine known to man.
In 2008 and 2009, she released “I Am… Sasha Fierce,” “Above and Beyonce,” “I Am… Sasha Fierce: Deluxe Edition” and “I Am… Yours.” Not to mention the number of television appearances that she’s made.
It’s time for Beyonce to take a short break before she becomes overexposed, and the public will get tired of seeing her. We need to miss Beyonce, and we can’t miss her if she never takes a break.

Michael Jackson’s white glove sold to highest bidder

(AP Photo/Cliff Schiappa)
When the late Michael Jackson debuted the moonwalk dance move during Motown Record’s 25th anniversary televised concert, he wore a sparkling white glove while he slid across the stage.
The white glove became Jackson’s trademark throughout most of his career. Many fans around the world began wearing a white glove when they tried to emulate the pop star.
Now, one person is the lucky winner who gets to own the original glove that Jackson used during his performance. The glove was given to Hoffman Ma (of Hong Kong) during an auction. Hoffman paid a whopping $420,000 for the famous glove, according to the Associated Press.
Several of Jackson’s belongings were auctioned at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City… I wonder who got the red jacket and the surgical masks????
Tiger Woods injured in car crash

(AP Photo/Rob Griffith)
Golf superstar Tiger Woods was injured in a car wreck Friday morning in Orlando.
Woods ran into a fire hydrant and a tree near his house, according to a police report. He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for facial injuries and released, according to CNN.
Police do not believe alcohol was involved, and they are investigating the crash, according to the police report. Woods is scheduled to compete Dec. 3 in the Chevron World Challenge, but I think it’s safe to assume he won’t be attending.
To be continued as details become available.

American Idol winner Kris Allen overshadowed by Adam Lambert

The 2009 ”American Idol” champion Kris Allen released his self-titled debut album today (Nov. 17). Many people might not have known he was even releasing an album.
Although Allen was victorious on “American Idol” earlier this year, he didn’t receive a substantial amount of media attention after his win. It wasn’t because he lacked talent. It was because he lacked shock value. Allen is plain, average and simple.
Which explains why he has been overshadowed by Adam Lambert, the “American Idol” runner-up. Lambert appears to be a magnet for the camera.
As a result, numerous magazines were racing to put him on the cover and land interviews with him. Meanwhile, Allen was an after thought. Entertainment journalists ignored him and focused on Lambert because he was more shocking.
Even pop star Lady Gaga came knocking on Lambert’s door wanting to collaborate with him on new music.
I’ll admit, Allen didn’t have the strongest vocals on the show. But the majority of “American Idol” voters chose Allen as their champion, and he deserves to receive some media attention since he was declared the winner.
Allen’s album is in stores now. Lambert’s album “For Your Entertainment” will be released Nov. 23.
