sonia-sotomayorSonia Sotomayor (aka Wise Latina) was confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 6).

Senators voted 68-31 to approve her nomination.  She will be sworn in Saturday by Chief Justice John Roberts.

Sotomayor will become the first Hispanic justice in history to serve on the Supreme Court.

Her confirmation brings a little more diversity to the court.

The Supreme Court will now consist of six white males, one white female, one Hispanic female and one black male. (Although many people believe Clarence Thomas should be classified in the white male category).
