Ben Roethlisberger accused of sexual assault
An employee at a Harrah’s hotel in Nevada filed a civil lawsuit against Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
According ot NBC Sports, the woman claims Roethlisberger asked her to fix the television in his hotel room, then he forced her to have sex with him.
The lawsuit was filed last week, but the woman claims the incident occurred last year.
Roethlisberger’s lawyer denied all allegations. He said in a statement, “Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone. The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct. If an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated.”
Roethlisberger was drafted to the Steelers in 2004. He was also named AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2004.
At age 23, he became the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl title in NFL history.
Joe Jackson denies abusing Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson’s father Joe Jackson appeared on Larry King Live Monday night on CNN, and he discussed an array of issues regarding Michael. He also denied ever abusing Michael.
At one point during the interview, Joe popped an attitude with Larry King. A clip from the interview is posted below.

Chris Brown apologizes for the Rihanna incident
R&B singer Chris Brown issued a videotaped apology to his fans about the incident that occurred in February when he beat up his girlfriend singer Rihanna.
The video was posted on Brown’s Web site.
Brown says he’s learned from his mistakes, and says he’s apologized to Rihanna several times. He said he wanted to issue a public statement sooner, but his attorney’s wouldn’t let him.
I’ve written numerous posts about the Chris Brown and Rihanna altercation. Now that Brown has apologized, this will probably be my last post, regarding their altercation
Before I end it, there is something I want to discuss.
I was disturbed by the number of emails and comments I’ve received from readers who tell me “Rihanna deserved to be beaten up. It was Rihanna’s fault. Rihanna brought it on herself.”
Before you make those malicious statements, think about this. What if your mother was bloodied and beaten up by her boyfriend? Would you say your mother deserved it?… What if your sister was bloodied and beaten up by her boyfriend? Would you say your sister deserved it?
In the video, Brown appears to be remorseful. I believe he’s truly sorry and will not make the same mistake again. Yes, it’s time to move on. But placing the blame on Rihanna is not productive. It’s not the victim’s fault.

Beastie Boys member diagnosed with cancer
Bestie Boys member Adam Yauch says he was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in a salivary gland and a lymph node.
The band members will now cancel their tour dates and postpone their new CD release titled “Hot Sauce Committee Part 1.”
In a video statement posted on the group’s Web site, Yauch said “About two months ago I started feeling a little lump in my throat. I started think I should talk to my doctor, and he sent me to a specialist, and they did tests, and I actually have a form of cancer.”
“The good news is that they did scans of my whole body and it’s only localized this one place, and it’s not in a place that effects my voice, so that’s nice,” he said with a laugh. “This is something that’s very treatable in most cases, they’re able to completely get rid of it and people don’t have continuing problems with it and it’s not anywhere else in my body.”
The Beastie Boys formed in 1981. Their most notable song is “Fight For Your Right” from their album “Licensed To Ill.”

ESPN reporter videotaped naked
Erin Andrews is the attractive female reporter who can be seen reporting on the sidelines during football games on ESPN.
But some perpetrator (eager to see her naked) secretly videotaped her walking around her hotel room naked.
Her attorney released the following statement “While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent.”
“She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similarly violated in the future. Although the perpetrator or perpetrators of this criminal act have not yet been identified, when they are identified she intends to bring both civil and criminal charges against them and against anyone who has published the material.”
“We request respect of Erin’s privacy at this time, while she and her representatives are working with the authorities.”
Now, the tape is being shopped around the Internet. Although it’s an embarrassment for Andrews and a clear invasion of privacy, it might help her career.

Pitbull found not guilty on drunk driving charges
Hip hop rapper Pitbull was acquitted of drunk driving charges this month.
According to NBC Miami, Pitbull was pulled over by police after he was caught driving 93-mph–about 40 miles over the speed limit.
The officer said Pitbull failed a field sobriety test, and concluded he was drunk. However, in the courtroom, Pitbull told jurors he was only targeted because he’s a celebrity.
Also, the field sobriety test was not caught on the officer’s dashboard camera. Apparently, the jury believed his story because they found him not guilty.
I hate to second guess a jury’s decision, but the argument that Pitbull was only targeted because he’s a celebrity is weak.
Pitbull is not a famous celebrity yet. Yes, he has a hit song on the radio right now. His song “I Know You Want Me” is currently number 8 on the Billboard charts.
However, most people still don’t even know who he is or what he looks like. I guarantee you the police officer certainly didn’t know who he was.

Janet Jackson returns to the movie set
After spending several days grieving the death of her brother Michael Jackson, singer/actress Janet Jackson has returned to the movie set to continue filming “Why Did I Get Married Too,” which is the sequel to “Why Did I Get Married.”
Jackson was in the middle of filming the movie when Michael died. The film is directed by Tyler Perry. Janet stars alongside Malik Yoba and Tasha Smith.
The film will be released in theaters April 2 (2010). The first “Why Did I Get Married” movie was released in Oct. 2007 and earned $55 million at the box office.
Janet earned an NAACP Image Award for best supporting actress for her role as Patricia.

50 Cent cuts the price of mansion
The housing crisis and economy continues to affect celebrities.
For the second time, rapper/actor 50 Cent was forced to cut the price of his mansion that’s for sale because he hasn’t attracted any prospective buyers.
The 50,000 square-foot mansion is located in Farmington, Connecticut. At first, 50 Cent was selling the the home for $18.5 million, then it dropped to $14.5 million because no one was interested in purchasing the expensive property, according to the Associated Press.
However, the drop in price wasn’t helpful because no one still wanted to buy it. Now, he’s selling it for $10.9 million. If no wealthy person buys the property this time, 50 Cent should probably give up and just keep the house for himself.
The house was formerly owned by Mike Tyson. It has 19 bedrooms, 37 restrooms, a gym, racquetball courts, a dance floor and stripper poles.
I guess even celebrities can’t afford to buy mansions anymore.

“Britain’s Got Talent” runner-up Susan Boyle is no longer “the ugly duckling.” She showed off her new and improved look on “The Today Show” during an interview with Meredith Vieira.

R&B singer/actress Christina Milian is engaged to music producer Terrius “The Dream” Nash.
Milian appeared in “Love Don’t Cost A Thing,” “Be Cool,” “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past,” and the upcoming film “Bring It On: Fight to The Finish.”
Her biggest musical hit was “Dip It Low,” released in 2004. However, Def Jam dropped her from the record label in 2006, a week after her greatest hits CD was released. She soon rebounded with a record deal on MySpace Records.
The Dream produced Carey’s number one song “Touch My Body.” He also produced “Umbrella” by Rihanna, “Leavin” by Jesse McCartney, “Bed” by J. Holiday and “Moving Mountains” by Usher.
Ironically, Milian’s fiance (The Dream) is Mariah Carey’s music producer, and Milian’s ex-boyfriend is Mariah Carey’s current husband Nick Cannon. I’m noticing a pattern here.
Paula Abdul likely won’t return to American Idol, manager says
Will Paula Abdul return to American Idol during the 2010 season? Probably not, according to her manager David Sonenber.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times Newspaper, Sonenber said “Very sadly, it does not appear that she’s going to be back on ‘Idol.”
“I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful,” he said of the contract holdup. “I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven’t stepped up and said what they want to do.”
“She’s not a happy camper as a result of what’s going on. She’s hurt. She’s angry,” Sonenberg said. “I think at this point we’re going to be considering everything, including some kind of a competition show. She has tremendous ideas for a whole variety of shows.”
During the 2009 season, producers unexpectely added a fourth judge Kara DioGuardi to the show. I’ve always been suspicious about why they wanted a fourth a judge, and I always felt it was because they wanted to push Paula out the door.
It would be a huge mistake on their part if they don’ t renew Paula’s contract. Although some viewers think she’s annoying, she does make the show interesting.

David Arquette apologizes for comments about Latin women
Actor David Arquette issued a statement apologizing for his remarks about Latin women.
Arquette was on the Fox News Channel this week to raise awareness about hunger. For whatever reason, he got off track and started talking about Latin women.
He said “I think Latina women are, I mean, it depends on the woman, but I think they are very, they have great judgment, but there are some that are just nuts. I’m just saying.”
When he realized that was dumb thing to say, he later issued an apology statement.
The statement says “I would like to issue an apology for the comments I made on Fox and Friends. My intent was to be humorous and not offensive. I have nothing but love and respect for Latina women and women in general of all cultural backgrounds. What saddens me most is that it took away from the issue of Hunger in America, for which I was on the show to begin with. I work and a pantry in Venice California with a hispanic women named Delpia (who has been feeding people at St. Joseph’s Center for 29 years) and she is my personal hero. Having been raised in Los Angeles I have grown up with a deep and profound love for the Latino culture.”

Mariah Carey disses Eminem in new music video
Mariah Carey released her first video from her upcoming CD titled “Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel.” The song is titled “Obsessed.”
In the video, Mariah appears to be dressing as rapper Eminem, and the lyrics to song seem to be addressed to him as well.
Here’s the backstory…. Eminem and Mariah went on a date several years, but it didn’t work out. Eminem suggested they were once a couple, but Mariah repeadley denied they were ever a couple.
Eminem even targeted Mariah in his song “Bagpipes From Baghdad.” Now it’s Mariah’s turn to get revenge. In the song, she is suggesting that Eminen is obsessed with her. The video and song lyrics are posted below.
Good for Mariah. Eminem has been dissing everyone since he first started his musical career. Mariah is one of the first victims to respond.

Walter Cronkite dies at age 92
The legendary broadcaster Walter Cronkite has passed away at age 92. Cronkite, who was known as the most trusted man in America, died at his home in Manhattan.
He suffered from cerebral vascular disease. The full Associated Press story is posted below.

Walter Cronkite, the premier TV anchorman of the networks’ golden age who reported a tumultuous time with reassuring authority and came to be called “the most trusted man in America,” died Friday. He was 92.
Cronkite’s longtime chief of staff, Marlene Adler, said Cronkite died at 7:42 p.m. at his Manhattan home surrounded by family. She said the cause of death was cerebral vascular disease.
Adler said, “I have to go now” before breaking down into what sounded like a sob. She said she had no further comment.
Cronkite was the face of the “CBS Evening News” from 1962 to 1981, when stories ranged from the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. to racial and anti-war riots, Watergate and the Iranian hostage crisis.
It was Cronkite who read the bulletins coming from Dallas when Kennedy was shot Nov. 22, 1963, interrupting a live CBS-TV broadcast of the soap opera “As the World Turns.”
Cronkite was the broadcaster to whom the title “anchorman” was first applied, and he came so identified in that role that eventually his own name became the term for the job in other languages (Swedish anchors are known as Kronkiters; in Holland, they are Cronkiters).
“He was a great broadcaster and a gentleman whose experience, honesty, professionalism and style defined the role of anchor and commentator,” CBS Corp. chief executive Leslie Moonves said in a statement.
His 1968 editorial declaring the United States was “mired in stalemate” in Vietnam was seen by some as a turning point in U.S. opinion of the war. He also helped broker the 1977 invitation that took Egyptian President Anwar Sadat to Jerusalem, the breakthrough to Egypt’s peace treaty with Israel.
He followed the 1960s space race with open fascination, anchoring marathon broadcasts of major flights from the first suborbital shot to the first moon landing, exclaiming, “Look at those pictures, wow!” as Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon’s surface in 1969. In 1998, for CNN, he went back to Cape Canaveral to cover John Glenn’s return to space after 36 years.
“It is impossible to imagine CBS News, journalism or indeed America without Walter Cronkite,” CBS News president Sean McManus said in a statement. “More than just the best and most trusted anchor in history, he guided America through our crises, tragedies and also our victories and greatest moments.”
He had been scheduled to speak last January for the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala., but ill health prevented his appearance.

Mischa Barton enters a psychiatric ward
Actress Mischa Barton has checked into the crazy house.
Barton was placed in a psychiatric facility at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by the Los Angeles Police Department.
No one knows exactly what happened, but police received a call from Barton’s home July 15, according to Access Hollywood.
When they arrived, police determined Barton presented a danger to herself or others, so she was transported to the center.
I hope she gets better and makes a full mental recovery from whatever she’s dealing with. But I always knew she was crazy, and this proves my point.
Barton became famous when she starred as Marissa Cooper on the television show ”The O.C” from 2003 to 2006.
