El you are one lucky man. My beautiful husband was not so lucky. At age 29, he left us because of an overdose of crack cocaine. He left behind a 5 hear old daughter who never forgot him and has been trying to destroy her life ever since. She has no desire to live. Whenever father’s day comes around she feels especially abandoned, because he is not here to celebrate with her.
You El are getting a ‘second chance’ as you say. Your kids can have you back in once piece and you have a chance to put the past behind you and move on.
Enjoy your new life and don’t ever fall off the way again, or you would be the dumbest soul that ever lived.
Don’t ever stop using your GOD given gift.

There are very few talents out there and you are one of the best. W lost Michael but we still have you. Thank you for being strong and making it back. I love your album and all your music. You have the voice of an angel, the looks to die for and a great personality, very sweet. Best of luck to a great future. This is your second chance and you deserve it.

Hi El!Ok, I am so happy that you are back in the spotlight again! It was nobody but God that has delivered you from drugs! See look at it this way, before your were ever born, God knew you and gave you FAVOR over your life. The devil (Satan) knowing this, he peeped into your future and knew God had so many blessings for you and would use you to help so many people. So Satan sees this and decided to bring the drugs and alcohol in your life to destroy you because he knew God had purpose for your life. However, he forgot that your mother being a STRONG woman of God was praying for you and that you had FAVOR over your life. So the Lord use the drug addiction and prison time for your good by allowing you to get your focus, will power and God given talent of music writing and singing back. Now people all over the world (Praise God) are being healed and set free of drugs and alcohol addictions because they see what the Lord did in you! So what the enemy (Satan) tried to use to destroy you, it has worked out for your GOOD! Thank you for allowing God to use you in this way! So every time you think of what you went through with drugs and alcohol, LIFT UP YOUR HANDS and give God the PRAISE! You are his vessel that was called from your mother’s womb to be used to help heal, deliver and set God’s people free and to make people feel good again with your music! Yes, God is a God of “Second Chances!”

Dear El my name is Karl smith,you’ve always been my favorite artist,but the memory that i will always cherish is Feb 16 1996 you were touring at that time,your road manager just happened to walk into the beauty salon where I was working. He asked me would I be interested in cutting your hair of course I replied I gave him one of my business cards you left a message on my voice mail instructing me to meet you at Gilly’s night club in downtown Dayton Oh.for the first time in my lifeI felt as though I was on inside looking out as oppose to the outside looking in.You did 2 shows that night brought down the house it was an extraordinary performance.but thing that touched the most is when we sang in the dressing room and you were teaching me a technique called a whistle tone.to this day I’ll sing anywhere at anytime in 2002 I sang the national anthem at the Dayton Dragons baseball game in front of 8,500 fans.you gave me the confidence I needed to pursue my dreams I’ll never give up and don’t you either, my prayers are always with you when ever your in my city feel free and contact 937-397-8019 love always Karl, one of your biggest fans of all times.

El, I KNOW FIRST HAND what you’re going thru, I been there too, and let me tell
you, you can STAY CLEAN, and life after all that is SWEET!! Just ASK GOD to help you, BELIEVE in HIM, and not only will he fix our problems, but HE’LL give you the desires of your heart!! A lot of people will tell you what to do, and they never experienced the drugs before, BUT I DID!! I KNOW FIRST HAND!! Everybody’s different, and some people say it’s tough to kick, but it wasn’t for me!! Once I gave it up to GOD, it was easy, AND I’VE BEEN CLEAN FOR 9 YEARS NOW!!! I have always thought that EL was one of the most gifted and talented of all the Debarges with they were in the group. he was the LEAD VOICE of them!!! I would have never imagined him getting in any trouble, I always thought of him as the one to get the rest of the family out of trouble. I just knew that all his talent and work in the Music business would keep him out of trouble. i saw him on the Awards show last night and was very happy to see him again. he looked very frail like when I saw Whitney on stage a while back when she was on drugs. I wish he recovers and stays good! he has so much to offer the music all of us and so much talent to offer the music world. he must stay in control!

Hey el i cant say that i have always been a fan, but a couple of months ago i was on youtube and saw you singing heart mind and soul, and ever since each morning when i get off work i watch that clip and the live after the dance, you are funny ‘jesica looks like she from africa lol. el may god bless you and your family. ps i luv your moms voice its so soulful.
