Hi monique,
I do understand perfectly what you are going through, The same thing happened to me fro several years, only that it was not my brother. It was my step father and I also remember telling my mother and she never did believe me. In my family it happened to my older sister, my aunt, and I. It hurts till this day. My life has not being the same since. I don’t trust guys and I feel dirty. I sometimes think that it is my fault and give my body away without caring. I hate that but the pain is there and that seems to be the only way out. I now have a baby and he means the world to me and if anything like this happens to him I will be devestated and will go out trying to hurt somebody. I now also do live with alot of hate in my heart and I tend not to respect those that surround me. I hope that one day we a can meet and share our stories. I also hope that I can one day wake up from this bad dream.

im all 2 familiar with this topic my step father molested me for years and in my mind it wuz all my fault but as time moved on i came to realize it wasnt when the time came and i confronted him i can somewhat move on whith my life God has carried me thru this mess may God continue 2 bless you and yeah by the way you dont know how much you help me 2 live when i wanted 2 die you are my hero.

I suppose there is a place for “judgmental journalism” in a blog, as this isn’t officially a news piece. Your article does say the man did do time, albeit not for life. Mo’Nique surely deserves a healthy relationship with her first family, but sometimes life’s not all happy endings. It took courage for her to say this happened, but whether this family resolves their issue is really none of our business. It’s not up to any of us to offer solutions to their problem.
